Cody Rhodes’ Undisputed title is on the line
‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes is set to defend his Undisputed WWE title against Kevin Owens this Saturday at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.
The two stars will clash in Saturday Night’s Main Event card which features two more title matches along with a grudge match between Sami Zayn and Drew McIntyre. Ahead of their scheduled clash, let’s explore three reasons why Rhodes could suffer a defeat against Owens.
3. Storyline continuation
The feud between Owens and Rhodes will likely continue after their clash this Saturday. A title change might be on the cards for this event as the promotion might crown Owens the new champion to set up a highly intriguing rematch between the two next year.
This would also keep the fans interested as they would hope and wait for Rhodes to rally back. A loss would also further make this storyline complicated and the promotion may add the return of Randy Orton to the fray to make things even more engaging.

2. To cement KO’s heel turn
Since turning heel, Owens has experienced tremendous success and attracted significant attention for his actions. Winning the Undisputed title would serve as the perfect way to further solidify his heel turn.
Owens turned heel as he attacked Rhodes following the Bad Blood 2024 PLE where Cody teamed up with KO’s rival Roman Reings. KO’s ruthlessness since turning heel is also a hint that he might emerge victorious to become the Undisputed champion for the second time in his WWE career.
1. The perfect storm to keep fans engaged
The Prizefighter winning the Universal title for the second time in his career against Rhodes will create ripples through the WWE fandom. This would also be a perfect stage to do such a thing which would keep the fandom talking about SNME.
It would also capture the attention of casual fans and the broader audience, especially with Rhodes being a major star who has successfully defended his title since claiming it at WrestleMania 40. Rhodes won the title after defeating Roman Reigns on the grandest stage eight months ago.
