The two stars are set to collide on April 20 in Las Vegas!
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is set to defend his title against the 2025 men’s Elimination Chamber winner and 16-time WWE World Champion John Cena on April 20, night two of WrestleMania 41 PLE.
The 41st edition of WrestleMania is scheduled to take place over two nights on April 19 and 20, 2025. The massive event will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada, USA. This is the second WrestleMania to take place in the Las Vegas area.
Ahead of the title showdown in Las Vegas, let us take a look at the top three reasons why Cena will lose to the Champion at the ‘Grandest Stage’.
3. Planting the seeds for the next feuds
While Cody Rhodes is already set for title defense, the promotion has already hinted at some of the future feuds that the American Nightmare might be involved in. On the March 28 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, both Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre voiced their intentions to face Rhodes after the Mania PLE.

2. The face of the company shouldn’t loose
If there were any doubts in fans’ minds as to who the current face of the company is, WWE clarified that the promos for the match had similar storytelling with Cody Rhodes as the current face of the company, the one who fans love and Cena as the past hero who is irked by fans loving Cody over him, a recent promo also had the line from Cody’s segment, “John, I’m the captain now!” further suggesting that he will retain.
1. Half-baked storyline
One of the most eminent problems with not just this storyline but with many of the storylines heading into WrestleMania is half-baked storylines. The promotion not only has made sure that the two stars involved in the storyline rarely meet, but even in this case, the two have only come face-to-face three times back to back during the European tour.
While the first meeting was received well by the crowd, it became repetitive with the two only engaging in a war of words. The promotion is yet to describe what it actually means to “sell your soul”, The Rock has not made a single appearance since Elimination Chamber, and while a face vs face match would not have sold as many tickets but this is likely not a better scenario for fans.
