Hello everyone and welcome to Khel Now’s LIVE COVERAGE of the WWE Backlash 2024 (May 4). The start is just a few hours away! I’m your host Akash, and I’ll be keeping you company through what promises a fascinating evening of WWE. Please wait for 30 Seconds for the Live blog to load.
WWE will take Backlash worldwide in 2024. The card will take place on May 4 at the LDLC Arena in Lyon, France, and is the first major event following this year’s enormous WrestleMania 40 event. The card is still in development, but we do know that the World Heavyweight Championship and the undisputed WWE universal championship will be on the line.
Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Cody Rhodes will defend his championship against AJ Styles in a long-awaited first-time match. Damian Priest, the world heavyweight champion, already has a challenger lined up for the event after Jey Uso won the No. 1 contender match.
With WWE trying to build the whole Backlash card it will be interesting what WWE does with more storylines in play.
WWE Backlash 2024 confirmed matches
- World Heavyweight Championship – Damian Priest (c) vs Jey Uso
- Undisputed WWE Universal Championship – Cody Rhodes (c) vs AJ Styles
- Women’s Championship – Bayley (c) vs Naomi vs Tiffany Stratton
- Women’s Tag Team Championship – The Kabuki Warriors (c) vs Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill
- The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa & Tama Tonga) vs Randy Orton & Kevin Owens
World Heavyweight Championship – Damian Priest (c) vs Jey Uso
In a fatal four-way Jey Uso got a chance to punch his ticket to fight for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Now, it would be interesting to see whether Jey Uso wins the championship or not. But if we look at how the storylines ate proceeding Jey Uso is not going to win, also Drew McIntyre somehow will manage to get the rematch he so much deserves as CM Punk and Drew McIntyre are too big to have just feud with each other.
Undisputed WWE Universal Championship – Cody Rhodes (c) vs AJ Styles
Cody Rhodes had his crowning moment at WrestleMania 40, meeting Roman Reigns for the second consecutive year in a straight and “finishing the story” by becoming champion. He will be meeting his first rival in Styles, who defeated LA Knight in the finals of a mini-tournament to become a top contender.
Before becoming WWE champions, Rhodes and Styles established themselves as huge names. Let’s be honest as good both are inside the ring we might get to witness one of the best matches in the card.
Women’s Championship – Bayley (c) vs Naomi vs Tiffany Stratton
Naomi received a championship shot from the new champion, but Stratton intervened. She hoped it meant she’d get a shot, but they scheduled a top contender bout with Naomi instead. When Nia Jax interfered, Nick Aldis just scheduled a triple threat. with this match up one thing is for sure that WWE is trying to book their younger talents with some of the industries best workers to get them more hype and love from the WWE universe.

Women’s Tag Team Championship – The Kabuki Warriors (c) vs Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill
Belair and Cargill had a verbal argument with Damage CTRL on the April 19 edition of SmackDown Live. The fan-favorite team had a win over Damage CTRL, which they shared with Naomi at WrestleMania 40.
It gave Belair and Cargill a legitimate claim to a championship match against Asuka and Sane. Nick Aldis last week announced this match, and we could be seeing the birth of two new superheroes.
The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa & Tama Tonga) vs Randy Orton & Kevin Owens
Kevin Owens has always been a fighter. Owens ran short of Sikoa backstage and paid the price in blood. He continued to fight them and received assistance from new friend Orton just last week on SmackDown. That resulted in the booking of this match.
It would be an interesting matchup as with no Roman Reigns WWE wouldn’t want the hype to just end. So, let’s hope we get to see an exceptional match up.
