WWE yet to finalize winner of 2026 King of the Ring – Report

This past Monday on Raw, after Clash in Italy, WWE kicked off the tournament to decide the 2026 King and Queen of the Ring. The finals of the tournament will take place at the Night of Champions PLE in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, later this month.
Meanwhile, the winners of the tournament will get the chance to battle the Champion of their choosing at SummerSlam 2026, which is set for August. Oba Femi and Iyo Sky won their respective fatal four-way matches to advance into the semi-finals of the King and Queen of the Ring tournament, respectively.
The tournament will continue tonight on SmackDown in Bologna. After the recent report claiming that Seth Rollins is currently planned to win the tournament and challenge Roman Reigns for the World title at SummerSlam, a new report has shed more light on the plans for the King of the Ring 2026.
Three different winners were pitched for the tournament
According to WrestleVotes Radio, the promotion has not finalized the winner of the 2026 King of the Ring tournament. The report notes that the winner was not “firmly decided” when the bracket of the tournament was revealed during the Clash in Italy post-show.
The report notes that at least three different WWE stars were considered internally as potential winners, and they were deliberately positioned in the tournament bracket to keep each of those outcomes possible.
The outlet suggested that the approach might be to keep options open so that they can alter plans if necessary. This approach helps the promotion in possible injury scenarios, as multiple paths would make sure that pivoting will be easy.
While the outlet didn’t reveal any names, some leading contenders do include Seth Rollins, Jey Uso, Oba Femi, Bron Breakker, or even LA Knight.
Speaking of Oba Femi, WrestleVotes suggests that WWE and Brock Lesnar may not have finalized the timeline for his rubber match with Oba Femi, which could create uncertainty around Oba’s role in the KOTR tournament until those plans are finalized.
