[Watch] Boxer Saweety Boora seen assaulting husband Deepak Niwas Hooda in Hisar police station

Saweety Boora and Deepak Niwas Hooda tied the knot in 2022.
Former world boxing champion Saweety Boora was allegedly captured on video physically assaulting her husband, a former Indian kabaddi team captain, Deepak Hooda, inside a Hisar police station in Haryana.
The viral video, which has emerged on social media shows Boora aggressively approaching Hooda and striking him before their family members quickly intervened to stop the altercation. This public confrontation marks the latest development in a complex domestic dispute that has been unfolding since February publicly.
Boora, a 2023 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships gold medalist, filed a police complaint against Hooda and his family in February, alleging dowry harassment. The couple, both hailing from Haryana and married in July 2022, have been embroiled in an increasingly contentious legal battle and just recently Boora held a press conference in which she claimed local police inaction.
During a press conference on March 23, Boora alleged that authorities have not interrogated Hooda. She stated that despite filing a formal complaint with Hisar Superintendent of Police Shashank Kumar Sawan 45 days ago, no substantive action had been taken against her husband.
“On March 11, I informed the Hisar SP that I no longer want to live with him. I don’t want a single penny from him—just a divorce and my belongings. I submitted a partial list of my belongings, but no action has been taken in over a month…I appeal to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji and our Home Minister for justice. I initially kept quiet, hoping for a peaceful resolution…” Boora said which was quoted by IANS on X (Twitter).
The situation took a dramatic turn on March 15 when Boora was summoned to the Hisar women’s police station, as claimed by her. There, she discovered Hooda had preemptively filed countercharges against her, her father Mahender Singh, and maternal uncle Satyawan, alleging misbehaviour and injuries.
“The police officials have failed to interrogate Deepak Hooda in the last 45 days. Instead, on March 15, the police officials called me to Hisar women’s police station where Deepak was already present. He lodged a false case against me, my father Mahender Singh and maternal uncle Satyawan alleging misbehaviour and injuries.
“The police booked us in the false case and two days ago, we were forced to sit in Hisar Sadar police station for a day and were released after we got bail. The accused is roaming freely, and the SP has failed to act against him,” she said quoted by Hindustan Times.
What is the heart of matter? Let’s unfold
Indian boxer and world champion Saweety Boora has filed a dowry harassment complaint against her husband, Deepak Hooda, and his sister, Poonam on February 25. Boora alleged Hooda tortured her, demanded a luxury car before marriage, and pressured her to quit boxing. Hooda, a former BJP assembly candidate, has denied the claims and accuses Boora’s family of financial exploitation.
On February 25, an FIR was lodged based on Boora’s complaint, confirmed by SHO Seema of the Hisar women’s police station. “An FIR dated February 25 has been lodged based on the complaint given by Saweety Boora against her husband Deepak Hooda. We gave him notice 2-3 times, but he did not turn up,” Seema stated.
In February, Hooda told PTI, cited health issues and requesting a delay. “I have provided a medical certificate and asked for a later date. I will definitely visit the police station, but I won’t say anything against my wife. I have not been permitted to meet her,” he stated.
The heart of the matter: According to Hindustan Times, Boora claimed that four days before their wedding in 2022, Poonam demanded a Fortuner SUV instead of a Creta car, forcing her father to deposit ₹11.59 lakh and take a loan.
Post-marriage, Hooda allegedly tortured her and demanded ₹1 crore for his failed 2024 election campaign from Meham. She has also accused him of forcing her to quit boxing and abusing her over household issues.
Boora filed for divorce on February 11, seeking ₹50 lakh in alimony and ₹1.5 lakh per month for expenses.
In response, Hooda filed a cross-complaint to Rohtak SP, alleging Boora’s family took money from him before their marriage. He claimed her father took ₹25 lakh, her brother ₹12 lakh, her sister ₹9 lakh, and Boora herself ₹17 lakh. He also accused Boora of attacking him with a knife and threatening to ruin his political career.
Professional backgrounds
Boora, a celebrated middleweight boxer, has international accolades including a gold medal in the 2023 World Championships and a silver in the 2014 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships. Hooda, equally accomplished, captained the Indian Kabaddi team and represented India in multiple international tournaments, including the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup and 2018 Asian Games.
