Pune custodian Kamaljit Singh also had an impressive night with many saves, although he was on the losing side.

In a thriller of a game at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru emerged victorious against a low-lying Pune City. A superb opening goal by Udanta Singh was canceled out by an own-goal from Rahul Bheke. However, the defender eventually went on to score the winner late in the 88th minute to give the Blues a deserving 2-1 win.

Watch: Bengaluru 2-1 Pune City highlights

Carles Cuadrat’s side had an unbelievable 32 shots overall in the game, but the Stallions’ custodian Kamaljit Singh stood like a wall under the bar. Nevertheless, the home team got the three points and now stand five points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand.

Here are the ratings of the Indian players who participated in this ISL fixture:

Bengaluru FC

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu - 6.5

The Indian national team shot-stopper was not too troubled overall in the game, as he faced just one shot on target from Pune. Gurpreet, however, was helpless when Bheke turned a cross from Marko Stankovic into his own net.

Rahul Bheke - 8.0

Hero of the Match Bheke was certainly in top form on the night, as he was solid defensively as well as managing to score a fantastic winner for his side, by being at the right place at the right time. The centre-back was forced to stick his leg at the cross from Stankovic, as Robin Singh was waiting to score with a tap-in. Unfortunately for him, the ball ended up in his own net and later it was also understood that Robin was offside during that move.

Harmanjot Khabra -7.0

Khabra was the unsung hero for Bengaluru on the night, as he assisted both the goals that his team scored. During the first goal by Udanta, the midfielder did very well to keep the ball in play, which would otherwise have ended in a goal-kick. For the second goal, the 29-year-old stretched out to put in a perfect cross which was turned in by Bheke.

Apart from the goals, Khabra did well while passing too, as he maintained a good 85% accuracy.

Udanta Singh - 7.0

It was yet another superb performance by the winger as he was relentless in attack from the right flank. A magnificent solo goal by him in the 11th minute provided an early lead for Bengaluru. Most of his crosses were either collected or punched away by the keeper. On one occasion, his shot from near the post unfortunately hit the woodwork. Overall, it was a very lively performance by Udanta and he certainly played his part very well in the win.

Nishu Kumar - 6.5

The youngster was pretty active from the left flank and helped a lot in attack, as he didn’t have much to do in defence. Nishu also took three shots, but all of them went wide of the post. The 21-year-old did what he was supposed to and looks like he has cemented his position in the starting lineup.

Sunil Chhetri - 6.5

Watch: The skipper was energetic but not clinical enough

As usual, the skipper was all energetic and active in the attacking third. Although he couldn’t get on the scoresheet, he was a menace with the ball. He perfectly laid off the ball for Erik Paartalu on a couple of occasions in the second half but the midfielder’s efforts were blocked once by the defender and another hit the crossbar.

What was absolutely great from Chhetri’s game was that he sprinted back each time to help his defence when Pune were on the counter-attack

Substitutes

Semboi Haokip- 5.5

Came on for Chencho in the 66th minute, but wasn’t as active as the forward he replaced. In the 30 minutes he played, he managed to get just eight touches of the ball from which he passed on seven occasions.

Boithang Haokip- NA

Came on too late in injury-time to replace Chhetri and thus wasn’t too involved in the game.

Kean Lewis- NA

The midfielder was brought on almost at the end of the game to play against his former club and couldn’t even get a single touch of the ball.

FC Pune City

Kamaljit Singh- 7.5

The 22-year-old faced a total of 32 shots of which eight were on target

It was an outstanding performance by the goalkeeper as he was an absolute wall behind the Pune defence. However, he was helpless during the first goal, as Udanta went on to pull off a great finish while beating two defenders in the process. Same was his situation during the second goal as Bheke was unmarked.

The 22-year-old faced a total of 32 shots of which eight were on target. Kamaljit was undoubtedly the best man for Pune on the pitch.

Lalchhuanmawia Fanai- 4.0

Fanai had a miserable evening as he was completely owned by Udanta during the first goal and was hapless on a couple of other occasions too. He was immediately substituted off in the 34th minute to make way for Sahil Panwar. The left-back needs a lot of improvement if he is to be picked in the starting lineup again.

Ashique Kuruniyan- 6.0

It wasn’t a great night for the usually active winger, but he again showed his quality with the ball as he often beat players with his pace. Ashique also put in six good crosses inside the box, but no one was present to finish them.

Robin Singh- 4.0

Robin once again had a disappointing game, as he struggled to get a touch of the balll which is evident from his 18 touches. The striker has a lot of improvement to do.

Ashutosh Mehta- 6.0

Ashutosh had a fair game as he was mostly busy handling Chhetri on the right flank and he did manage to keep the skipper at bay on several occasions. The right-back made a total of eight clearances in the game. It certainly looks like the 27-year-old will keep his place in the starting lineup for the upcoming games.

Adil Khan- 6.0

Like Ashutosh, Adil too had a decent game, as he stood his ground well in the defensive midfield role. He was certainly present at places he was supposed to. His ability to perform fair sliding tackles was really exciting to watch. The veteran midfielder contributed well in the defence as he made four tackles, two clearances, three interceptions and a couple of blocks too.

Substitutions

Sahil Panwar- 5.5

Came on in just the 34th minute to replace Fanai and looked much better and more solid than the left-back he replaced. The teenager went on to make two tackles and an equal number of blocks, while making five clearances. He was advised to play deep which he did as Bengaluru were fierceful while attacking.

Shankar Sampingiraj- NA

The 23-year-old midfielder came on late in the 80th minute to replace Stankovic, but couldn’t do much to make an impact on the game.

Jakob Vanlalhimpuia- NA
