Indian Player Ratings: Milan and Subhasish the best as Mumbai edge Bengaluru in cagey affair
(Courtesy : ISL Media)
In a game of few opportunities, the domestic contingent for the hosts enjoyed a steady outing.
Mumbai City FC did themselves a favour by winning against a toothless Bengaluru FC in a narrow contest. Paulo Machado scored the only goal of the game through a counter-attack that was executed well. The win puts The Islanders on top of the table, displacing Bengaluru, who have a game in hand. It also ends the much-talked about unbeaten run of The Blues, who were handed their first defeat of the season by Jorge Costa's men.
Below are the ratings of the Indian players who took part in the fixture:
Mumbai City FC
Amrinder Singh- 6.5
Amrinder was cool and composed under the bar for the home side. In what was supposed to be a game in which he wouldn't find breathing space, Bengaluru surprised the spectators by playing a toothless attack, led by false #9 on the night, Xisco Hernandez.
Subhasish Bose - 7.0
Mumbai City's best bet in defence, Subhasish Bose has seemingly overtaken Lucian Goian as the leader on the pitch. While Mumbai's right wing was challenged far too often than what they would have liked, their left side was kept silent by The Blues. Bengaluru's high-flying Udanta Singh was not allowed to take Mumbai for a ride, thanks to Subhasish.
Souvik Chakrabarti- 6.0
Time and again Souvik has been the weakest-link in the Mumbai City back four and it was no different in the game against Bengaluru as well.
Although, the attacking play of BFC wasn't anything that would have concerned anyone in most parts of the game, Souvik still managed to make his wing look vulnerable. He also often allowed wingers TO run past him, especially Kean Lewis.

Raynier Fernandes- 6.0
Raynier Fernandes started the game well, but the former Mohun Bagan midfielder received a small knock and soon faded out of the match. The midfielder had little impact on the game, except for a couple of good exchanges between him and Paulo Machado and was rightfully replaced in the second half by Md. Rafique.
Milan Singh- 7.0
Milan Singh was played as the destroyer against Bengaluru. He was asked to shut down the duo of Dimas Delgado and Erik Paartalu and the former Kerala Blasters midfielder performed quite well in the task. Although, the contribution of the Indian midfielders, Raynier and Milan, in the attacking aspects of the game had taken a hit, the latter held his ground strongly in the job of shielding Mumbai's defence.
Anwar Ali- 6.5
Anwar Ali started the game on a nervous note, making Jorge Costa seemingly unhappy. The centre-back's lack of game-time was crystal clear through his poor distribution of the ball in the first half. Nevertheless, the centre-back grew in confidence later, dealing well with the duo of Lewis and Hernandez.
Substitutions
Md Rafique - 6.0
Rafique was brought in for the steel and strength that he is known to provide and the Indian international did just well enough to see his side earn all the three points.
Bipin Singh - NA
Bipin came on too late to be rated.

Bengaluru FC
Gurpreet Singh Sandhu - 5.5
India's first choice keeper, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was suffering from a slight decline in confidence. Gurpreet was guilty of conceding what wouldn't have been a goal on any other day, allowing the ball to pass above his left leg. But, the custodian later denied Modou Sougou twice in the second half, ensuring that no further damage was done.
Udanta Singh - 7.0
Udanta Singh was very active running up and down the wing throughout his stay on the pitch. The Indian international was good in the first half, but eventually started losing the duels against Bose. He swung in two good crosses, one of which was nearly the equalizer for his side.
Sunil Chhetri - 6.0
Sunil Chhetri looked like a pale shadow of himself on the pitch and was completely nullified by Mumbai City. With the absence of a target man in attack, the Bengaluru skipper was needed more than ever in the top of the table clash. He had four shots throughout the game, only one of which was on target.
Rahul Bheke - 7.5
Rahul Bheke was excellent as an offensive full-back and was also good in defence. The better of the two right-backs playing in the game, Bheke combined very well throughout the match with Lewis ahead of him and proved to be a constant threat from the right.
Harmanjot Singh Khabra - 6.5
Harmanjot's most notable contribution in the game was the volley from almost the halfway line early in the first half. The #10 of Bengaluru went missing in the match and had very little impact down the left wing. Harmanjot put in six crosses, all defended easily.
Kean Lewis - 8.0
Easily the best player on the pitch, Lewis was proactive throughout the game. The midfielder started in the #10 position and kept on swapping places with Chhetri. He did well enough to make up for his captain's post-AFC Asian Cup hangover. Lewis put in three crosses and made two clearances.
