Asian Games 2026 Day 13 Results: India enjoy best day with historic six golds, 10 medals
Sujeet Kalkalâs comeback, three boxing golds and a hockey triumph headlined Indiaâs golden day
Indian womenâs hockey team, boxers, wrestlers, archery and sailing combined to produce Indiaâs best day at the Asian Games 2026, with the nation winning six golds and a total of 10 medals on Friday (October 2) in Aichi-Nagoya.
The most stunning performance came from Sujeet Kalkal in the menâs freestyle 65kg wrestling. First in the semis, he got the better of Olympic gold medalist Kotaro Kiyooka.
In the final, he faced a familiar opponent in Abdulmazhid Kudiev. The Tajikistan wrestler started to attack in the first round, earning a 2-9 lead. But the Indian then produced a performance of a lifetime to overcome the deficit and win the gold medal with a 10-9 scoreline.
Lovlina Borgohain gifted herself a wonderful birthday gift by boxing her way to gold in the womenâs 75kg category. The Olympic medalist used her height against Chinaâs Ziyi Bao to win all three rounds comfortably and secure Indiaâs second gold of the day and 12th gold overall. She is only the second boxer after the legendary Mary Kom to win an Asian Games gold in womenâs boxing.
Parveen Hooda immediately followed Lovlinaâs footsteps to win another gold, beating Nien-chin Chen of Taiwan 3-2. Ankush Panghal got Indiaâs third boxing gold as he punched his way to the top of the podium in the menâs 80kg category.
The Indian womenâs team continued their golden run as they reclaimed gold in the Asian Games. They beat defending champions China 1-0, with Lalremsiami scoring a brilliant shot of the reverse flick to get the only goal of the finals. China hasnât conceded a goal in this Asian Games, and this goal proved to be decisive in taking away the gold medal from them.
The womenâs hockey team have secured a spot in the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.
Indian Archers continued to create history in Aichi-Nagoya, as Indian women broke South Korean domination to win a historic gold in the womenâs Recurve team event. The South Koreans have won seven consecutive golds in the event and were aiming for an eighth.
But the trio of Ankita Bhakat, Kirti Sharma, and Anil Kumkum Mohod came back from being 1-3 down to win the gold medal 5-3. Kumkum joined Dhiraj Bommadevara to compete in the mixed team event. They faced China, whose precision was better on the day. The mixed Indian team had to settle for a silver.
Dhiraj, along with Yashdeep Bhoge and Neeraj Chouhan, teamed up against South Korea in the finals. The Koreans showed their domination when the conditions were tough as the wind speed picked up. The unfavorable conditions resulted in missed accuracy for India, but to the advantage of Korea, the wind speed dropped when they were in action, and they capitalized to win the gold.
Nethra Kumaran won Indiaâs second medal from sailing as the girl won a bronze in the womenâs dinghy finals. Another bronze medal for India came from the Sepaktakraw event, with the menâs quadrant making it to the semifinals.

India have some good news from the golf course, with Pranavi Sharath topping at the end of day 3 in the womenâs individual event and standing in second place in the team event. Canoe Slalom and Taekwondo saw India compete, but a long way from challenging the medal winners.
Hopefully, a few more medal opportunities for India on Saturday, and the fans would be praying to hear the national anthem more often than not
