All the top Indian shuttlers will be back to action this week
Korea Open 2023 is going to be the fifth Super 500 event of the BWF (Badminton World Federation) World Tour 2023. Since this season, a BWF calendar year now has nine Super 500 events. Korea Open begins on the 18th of July, 2023, and will see the finals being played on the 23rd of July, 2023.
For India, HS Prannoy is the only singles player entering the tournament as a seeded player. He is the fifth seed and has enjoyed a relatively successful BWF World Tour 2023 campaign. Prannoy, 31,won his first ever BWF Super 500 event, the Malaysia Masters and had reached the semi-finals of the Indonesia Open. In the Road to Paris 2024 race, he is only a step behind compatriot Lakshya Sen. And with Srikanth Kidambi, another Indian men's singles player featuring in the top 16 of the men's singles in the Road to Paris rankings, it won't be as straightforward for these Indians.
The only Indian doubles-seeded pair participating in the Korea Open 2023 is Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty. Not very long ago, the duo became the first-ever BWF Super 1000 winners from India when they won the Indonesia Open 2023. The third seeds also have a Swiss Open title in the 2023 tour and is the reigning Asian Champion.
