Japan's Tomoka Miyazaki makes history at BWF Korea Masters 2023

Tomoka Miyazaki from Japan has advanced to the semifinals of the BWF Korea Masters 2023 by defeating Natsuki Nidaira in the women’s singles event. The 17-year-old prodigy achieved a significant milestone, entering the semifinals of a BWF Super 300 tournament in her inaugural appearance.

In the quarterfinals, Tomoka dominated the first game with a commanding 21-5 win. Despite Nidaira’s comeback in the second game with a close 20-22 victory, Miyazaki capitalized on Nidaira’s errors in the third game, securing a win with a score of 21-17, sealing her victory at 21-5, 20-22, 21-17.

In the round of 16 match against Sim Yu Jin from South Korea, Tomoka faced an initial setback, conceding the first game 9-21. However, she managed to level the match with a 21-19 win in the second game and displayed exceptional control, ultimately prevailing at 9-21, 21-19, 21-11.

Other women securing spots in the women’s singles final at the BWF Korea Masters 2023 include Kim Ga Eun of South Korea, Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo of Indonesia, and Asuka Takahashi of Japan.

Tomoka Miyazaki is scheduled to face Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo in the upcoming semifinals. Wardoyo exhibited her prowess in previous matches, triumphing over competitors like P.K. Wardani and Lin Shi Yun, eventually securing a place in the semifinals by defeating Pornpicha Choeikeewong in straight games.
