One of the most prestigious badminton tournaments in the country, the India Open 2024, has been running since 2008. This year, the event will be held at the K. D. Jadhav Indoor Hall in the capital city of New Delhi from January 16 to 21. As a part of the BWF World Tour Super 750 category, the tournament offers a lucrative prize money of USD 850,000.

The India Open 2024 will feature some of the best badminton players in the world. An Se Young, the Korean sensation who tops the women’s singles rankings, will be looking to continue her winning streak after clinching the Malaysia Open last week.

However, she will face stiff competition from Chen Yufei, the current Olympic champion from China.

The men’s singles draw will miss the presence of world No. 1 Viktor Axelsen, who suffered an injury in Kuala Lumpur and had to pull out of the tournament. The same goes for Carolina Marin, the Spanish star who won the gold medal in Rio 2016 but is still recovering from a knee surgery.

Among the contenders for the men’s singles crown are Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, the Indonesian ace who bagged the bronze medal in Tokyo 2020 and Asian Games 2018, as well as other top players from India, China, Indonesia, and Denmark.

Singapore juggernaut will be led by Yeo Jia Min, the 2022 Commonwealth Games bronze medalist will be eager to make his mark and add the India Open title to his bag.
