The Badminton Asia Team Championships 2024 concluded on February 18, with China securing victory in the men’s division and the Indian team emerging triumphant in the women’s division.
The final of the men’s division saw China prevailing over the Malaysia with a score of 3-0, while the Indian team defeated Thailand 3-2 in the women’s division to claim the gold medal.
Throughout the tournament, several notable players consistently delivered strong performances, influencing crucial matches. Additionally, the event showcased the emergence of young players who are poised to make further significant contributions to the sport of badminton in the future.

Anmol Kharb (India) – 17 years 1 month
The young and promising badminton player from India garnered significant attention with her outstanding performances at the 2024 BATC. Notably, in the final match, with the score tied at 2-2, the responsibility to secure the title fell upon Anmol Kharb. She met the challenge with composure, triumphing in straight games with a scoreline of 21-14 and 21-9, thus contributing to the Indian team’s gold medal victory.
Throughout the tournament, Anmol competed in three matches and emerged victorious in each. Following her remarkable performance, her rank has now ascended to 336, marking a personal best. It is evident that in the future, this young prodigy from India will undoubtedly establish herself as one of the most accomplished badminton players to have graced the court.
Tomoka Miyazaki (Japan) – 17 years 6 months
Japan’s Tomoka Miyazaki participated in just one match during the tournament. In this singular game, she effectively demonstrated her prowess by securing a convincing victory with scores of 21-9 and 21-8 against Singapore’s Jaslyn Hooi.
Despite her absence from subsequent matches, Miyazaki’s exceptional abilities were unequivocally evident during her sole appearance. Therefore, she rightfully earns a place among the emerging young Badminton talents from BATC 2024.
Alwi Farhan (Indonesia) – 18 years 9 months
Although the campaign of the Indonesian men’s team concluded in the quarter-final round with a 3-2 loss to China, it was the young player Alwi Farhan who solidified his reputation as one of the future talents capable of achieving major titles through his determination and skill.
During the group stage, Alwi won all three of his matches in straight games. However, he faced a loss against Lei Lanxi in the quarter-final round. Presently ranked 59th in the men’s singles division, if Alwi continues to perform at his potential, he is poised to become a significant figure in the men’s division.

Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo (Indonesia) – 19 years 5 months
Indonesian player Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo participated in four matches during the tournament, emerging victorious in each one. Despite Indonesia’s 3-1 loss to Thailand in the semifinals, Wardoyo secured the only win for her team. Her exceptional skill and on-court prowess captivate spectators’ attention.
Wardoyo currently holds the 38th rank in the women’s singles division, marking her highest ranking to date.
Treesa Jolly (India) – 20 years 8 months
The other young Indian player whose performance was noteworthy is 20-year-old Treesa Jolly. Despite being in the scene for a considerable period, Jolly’s performance at the global level, considering her age, is a topic of frequent discussion.
Teaming up with Gayatri Gopichand, she competed in three matches during the tournament and emerged victorious in all, establishing themselves as formidable contenders whenever the Indian team graced the court. Furthermore, Jolly currently holds the 19th rank in the women’s doubles division.
