An Se Young has withdrawn from the tournament.

The German Open 2024, a prestigious badminton tournament, is set to unfold at the Westenergie Sporthalle in Mulheim, Germany. As part of the 2024 BWF World Tour, this event marks the 65th edition of the tournament.

The action-packed BWF Super 300 event kicks off with qualifying and first-round matches on February 27. Over the subsequent days, players will battle it out in the second round, quarterfinals, and semifinals, leading up to the grand finale on Sunday, March 3.

Despite the excitement, the tournament has witnessed some notable withdrawals. Among them is the absence of top-seeded compatriot An Se Young. Her decision to skip the German Open has opened up an opportunity for another talented player.

Kim Ga Eun, a rising star in the badminton world, now finds herself in the spotlight. Fresh from her victory at the Korea Masters in November, the 26-year-old Korean shuttler aims to clinch her second BWF World Tour title. With a bye in the opening round, Kim enters the fray in the second round, ready to showcase her skills.

However, Kim’s path to glory won’t be without challenges. The second seed, Kim Ga Eun, could face her biggest threat in the form of former world champion Ratchanok Intanon. The Thai veteran, who made a triumphant return after a three-month injury hiatus, is also competing in the same bottom half of the draw. Fans can expect an intense battle between these two formidable players.
