Defending champion Viktor Axelsen withdrew from the BWF World Tour Finals 2024 due to injury.

The spotlight is on Hangzhou, China, as the BWF World Tour Finals 2024 begin on December 11. This highly anticipated event brings together the season’s top seven players and Olympic champions in each category, with the tournament featuring a prize money of $2,500,000.

Viktor Axelsen, the reigning champion and a two-time Olympic gold medallist, has withdrawn from the tournament due to an injury. This leaves the pool wide-open in the men’s singles category. Combined with Li Shifeng’s recent Japan Masters Super-500 win, this gave the number #8 seed Li a seat in the Finals.

The seventh edition of the BWF World Tour Finals will also bid farewell to many top players including Olympic champions Lee Yang/Wang Chi-Lin and Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong making their participation deeply emotional for fans.
