India are drawn in Group D alongside Denmark, Indonesia and England.
BWF Sudirman Cup 2025 is the 19th edition of the Sudirman Cup, the biennial international badminton championships contested by the mixed national teams of the member associations of the Badminton World Federation since its inception in 1989. The tournament will be held in Xiamen, China, between April 27 and May 4.
A total of 16 teams will participate in the final tournament in Xiamen, with the host and the defending champions qualifying automatically. Continental qualifying tournaments were held to determine the winners of allocated continental slots (4 from Asia and Europe, and 1 each from Africa, Oceania and Pan America).
The remaining slots were determined via team rankings. Since China was both the host team and the defending champion, an additional slot was opened from the world rankings.
Host China, the 13-time champions, drawn in Group A alongside Hong Kong, Thailand and Algeria. India headline Group D.
India’s best finishes at the Sudirman Cup came in 2011 and 2017, reaching the quarter-finals. At the 2023 edition in China, India failed to progress past the group stage, finishing third behind Malaysia and Chinese Taipei.

Format
A total of 16 teams have been drawn into four groups of four teams each for the 2025 Sudirman Cup. Each team will play three ties apiece in the group stage, and the top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals.
Each tie in the group stage will consist of five matches—mixed doubles, men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, and women’s doubles.
In the knockout stages, team matches become a best-of-five affair, with each team match ending once a team wins three points. This might mean the same-gender doubles matches are not played if a team wins 3-0.
