Six Indian boxers confirmed medals on Wednesday
Indian boxers had a brilliant outing on Day 6 of the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland, on Wednesday, July 29. All six Indian pugilists competing in the quarter-finals of their respective events secured wins, sealing a place in the semi-finals.
According to CWG boxing rules, all the losing semi-finalists receive a bronze medal. As a result, India are assured of six more medals in the tournament, having already won 12 medals so far – two golds, seven silvers, and three bronzes.

Sakshi Chaudhary was the first boxer in competition on Wednesday, facing Northern Ireland’s Caitlin Fryers in the women’s 51kg event quarter-finals. The Indian pugilist dominated the bout from the opening bell, securing a 5-0 unanimous decision victory. She will face Canada’s Amber-Jane Wall in the next round.
Arundhati Choudhary competed in the women’s 70kg event quarter-finals, facing New Zealand’s Morgan Henderson. Choudhary overcame a big challenge ahead of the match, cutting two kg in the day before the event. In the ring, she secured a 3-1 split decision victory. Wales’ Rosie Eccles will face her in the semi-finals.
Narender Berwal, taking part in the men’s 90+kg quarter-finals, faced a much tougher contest against Samoa’s Michael Seko.
The Indian boxer faced a two-point deduction in the bout but managed to seal a tight 3-2 split decision victory. He will face Trinidad and Tobago’s flag-bearer Nigel Paul in the next round.
Sachin Siwach, Ankush Yadav, Jasmine Lamboria seal semi-finals spot
Sachin Siwach was absolutely dominant in his men’s 60kg quarter-finals bout against Botswana’s Treasure Moremi.
The 26-year-old South Asian Games gold medallist dominated the bout, landing a flurry of jabs on his opponent before eventually sealing a 5-0 unanimous decision victory. He will face Wales’ Owain Harris-Allan in the semi-finals.

In the men’s 80kg quarter-finals, Ankush Yadav secured a dominant 5-0 unanimous decision victory over Seychelles’ Jade Micock.
The Indian boxer used his left hooks to great effect to seal a place in the semi-finals, assuring yet another boxing medal for India. Canada’s 22-year-old Joshua Ofori is the next opponent for Yadav.

In India’s final bout of Day 6, Jaismine Lamboria defeated England’s Elise Glynn by a split verdict (4-1) to book her place in the semis and also secure a medal in the women’s 57kg category.
Indian boxers shine at CWG 2026
Earlier in the tournament, several Indian boxers have progressed to the CWG 2026 semi-finals. Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain received a bye to the women’s 75 kg semi-finals, where she will face Tuvalu’s Tarona Taafaki.
On Day 5, Preeti Panwar secured a place in the women’s 54kg semi-finals, beating Northern Ireland’s Nicole Clyde by a 5-0 unanimous decision. She will face Zambia’s Catherine Mwape in the next stage.
Priya Ghanghas defeated Scotland’s Niamh Mitchell by a 4-1 split decision in the women’s 60kg quarter-finals. Lucy Kings-Wheatley will face her in the semi-finals.
Jadumani Singh secured a dominant 5-0 unanimous decision victory against Zambia’s Mwengo Mwale in the men’s 55kg quarter-finals. The Manipur-born pugilist has already declared that he is aiming for a maiden CWG gold and will face Namibia’s Philip Haoseb in the next round.
