Commonwealth Games 2026: Updated medal tally after Day 3, July 26
The first gold medal on Day 3 of the Commonwealth Games 2026 went to Malaysia’s Mohamad Aniq bin Kasdan.
The Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow witnessed a total of 14 medal events taking place on Day 3 (July 26). This included the men’s individual all-around and the women’s team/individual all-around finals in artistic gymnastics, three final events in the weightlifting discipline, and nine final events in the swimming and para swimming discipline.
After the first two days, the third day picked up pace, providing loads of quality action across several major disciplines. Team India bounced back from a disappointing second day, clinching three medals, including one gold and two silver.

Mirabai Chanu completed a historic three-peat, shattering several records in the women’s 48 kg weightlifting category. Rishikanta Singh and Muthupandi Raja brought home silver in their respective weightlifting categories, with both men eventually falling short against their Malaysian counterpart.
The country endured disappointments in the lawn bowls discipline. India’s women’s pairs comprising of Pinki Singh and Rupa Rani Tirkey, who were unbeaten before today, suffered defeats against Namibia and England in tie-breakers, to bow out of the competition. Putul Sonowal suffered his second loss in the men’s singles sectional play, ending his semi-final qualification hopes.
Boxing brought success as Preeti Pawar reached the quarter-finals while Jadumani Singh beat his Pakistani counterpart to also reach the final eight. Both boxers are now one win away from confirming a medal for the nation.

Australia currently seem to be unstoppable, further increasing their lead margin at the top, with a total of 39 medals currently including 17 gold, 9 silver and 13 bronze medals.
England remain second with 19 medals, while home nation Scotland climbed to third after adding two more golds. Nigeria slip to fourth place. Malaysia enter the top seven after Muhamad Aznil’s record-breaking gold, while India rose to eighth spot with one gold, two silver, and one bronze. Kenya and Papua New Guinea entered the medal tally.
Canada’s Ellie Black reclaimed the women’s individual all-around artistic gymnastics title eight years after her previous triumph, finishing with 53.050 points. Australia’s Breanna Scott took silver, while 16-year-old Canadian Lia-Monica Fontaine secured bronze in a tightly contested final.
Australia once again dominated the swimming pool. Cameron McEvoy led an Australian podium sweep in the men’s 50m freestyle with a new Commonwealth Games record of 20.97 seconds, while Lani Pallister captured her second gold of the 2026 Friendly Games by winning the inaugural women’s 1500m freestyle ahead of New Zealand’s Erika Fairweather and compatriot Molly Walker.
South Africa’s Pieter Coetze continued his remarkable meet by claiming his second gold medal, setting another Commonwealth Games record in the men’s 200m backstroke.

Scotland’s Angharad Evans delighted the home crowd with a stirring comeback victory in the women’s 100m breaststroke, while Canada’s Josh Liendo broke the Commonwealth Games record to win the men’s 100m butterfly.
Malaysia’s Muhamad Aznil completed a remarkable hat-trick of Commonwealth Games titles, winning the men’s 65kg weightlifting event with Games records in the snatch, clean and jerk, and total.
India’s Raja Muthupandi earned silver after setting a Commonwealth Games clean and jerk record of 160kg before Aznil bettered it moments later, while Papua New Guinea’s Morea Baru claimed bronze.
Australia rounded off another dominant night in the pool by edging England to win the men’s 4×200m freestyle relay in a thrilling finish, setting yet another Commonwealth Games record. Wales completed the podium with bronze.
