3 players GT should retain ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction Ft. Gill

Gujarat Titans (GT) failed to reach the playoffs in IPL 2024, managing five wins in 14 games.
Gujarat Titans (GT) made their debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022 and had instant success as they won their maiden title under Hardik Pandya. They reached the final in IPL 2023 as well, but lost against Chennai Super Kings.
Then came a huge moment in the history of not only the Titans, but also in the IPL as Hardik was traded to Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. Shubman Gill was appointed the new GT captain. But in Gill’s debut season as captain, the Titans finished eighth in the points table.
They would be aiming to bounce back in IPL 2025. Before that, they need to strategise for the upcoming mega auction, before which they can retain a maximum of six players through retentions and the Right To Match (RTM) option.
In this article, we will talk about three possible retentions for the Titans ahead of the mega auction.
Three players GT should retain ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction:
1. Shubman Gill

Gill joined GT in 2022 and has scored the most runs for them so far. Though the Titans had a poor run last season under his captaincy, Gill had a good season with the bat as he scored over 400 runs. He provides solidity at the top and is a consistent batter.
Further, Indian selectors right now see Gill as a future captain and have given him white-ball vice-captaincy recently. Given all these things, GT should retain Gill as their first-choice pick.
2. Rashid Khan

Even on his ordinary day, Rashid Khan can have more impact in a T20 game than most other spinners in the world. He has 149 wickets already in the IPL, 56 of which have come in the GT jersey.
He is a serial T20 match-winner with the ball and can also hit a few lusty blows with the bat. Rashid is simply one of the biggest match-winners in T20 cricket in the world and is on his way to a giant legacy in the shortest format. Given all this, he should be one of the players whom GT should retain ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction.
3. B. Sai Sudharsan

The fastest Indian batter to reach 1000 IPL runs, Sai Sudharsan has been a prolific scorer for GT in the IPL. He has mostly batted in the top three and has formed plenty of terrific partnerships with the other power-hitters around him.
He put on a show in consistency last season when he scored 527 runs at an average of 47 and a strike rate of 141.
Sudharsan’s class, consistency and potentially bright future are likely to earn him a possible spot on GT’s retention list ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
