3 players whom SRH should retain ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction Ft. Travis Head

SRH made it to the final of the IPL 2024, but lost to KKR.
After finishing the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at 10th position, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) made a thunderous comeback to finish IPL 2014 as runners-up. They failed to clinch their second IPL title after losing the final to Kolkata Knight Riders.
SRH took the IPL by storm with their batting as they amassed totals of 287, 277, and 266. The Hyderabad-based franchise applied an aggressive approach in 2024, which earned them plenty of success, and they would look to carry the same momentum in the IPL 2025.
Before that, they will have to replan and make new strategies, as there is a mega auction ahead of the IPL 2025 season. A team can retain a maximum of six players via retentions and Right to Match (RTM) options.
Here, we will talk about the three most probable retentions of the Sunrisers ahead of the mega auction.
Three players whom SRH should retain ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction:
1. Travis Head

Travis Head entered the IPL 2024 with great form under his belt, and everyone saw what he did while opening for Hyderabad. The Australian batter was in blazing form and ended up scoring 567 runs at a strike rate of 191.55.
His quick starts helped SRH post big totals with ease. He is arguably the best all-format batsman at the moment. The longer he stays at the crease, the winning chances of his team keep on increasing. And, that’s why the franchise should retain him.
2. Abhishek Sharma

Abhishek Sharma forced the world to notice him after jaw-dropping performances with the bat in IPL 2024. The southpaw showed his blistering version and even outplayed Head on a few occasions.
Abhishek finished the IPL 2024 with 484 runs and a mammoth strike rate of 204.21, with most sixes (42) in the season. He can also offer a few overs of spin. His young age and all-round abilities make him an asset that SRH should retain.
3. Heinrich Klaasen

While Head and Abhishek provided rapid starts, it was Heinrich Klaasen who monstered his way in the second half of the SRH’s innings last season. He has been one of the most dangerous white-ball batters in the world over the past couple of years.
In the last two IPL seasons, he’s scored over 400 runs each, and both times with a strike rate of more than 170.
With no cap on overseas retentions, the Sunrisers should retain Klaasen.
