BCCI has already announced India's squad for the 2-match Test series and 3-match ODI series to be led by Rohit Sharma.

Team India will travel to the West Indies for a multi-format series, which will start with two tests on July 12 at Windsor Park, Roseau, Dominica. It will be followed by three ODIs and five T20Is, while the tour will conclude on August 13. This will be a great opportunity for the team to try out some new faces. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had previously announced the squads for ODIs and Tests.

However, the T20I squad has yet to be announced. It is expected that the Indian selection committee will announce the T20I squad in the upcoming week. As seen in the Test and ODI squads, it is expected that India might give chances to new faces. So we will talk here about three youngsters who are expected to be part of the Indian team for the West Indies T20Is.

5 young players who should be picked in India's squad for WI tour:

1. Rinku Singh

India has always been a top-order-heavy team, but the likes of MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, and Suresh Raina have always done well in the middle order. But now, the Indian team is searching for a reliable middle-order batter who can also do some finishing work. And who can be better than Rinku Singh? The left-hander had his best season in 2023 for the Kolkata Knight Riders. He smashed 474 runs in 14 innings at an average and strike rate of 59.12 and 149.52. Rinku can be the next big finisher for India.

2. Yashasvi Jaiswal

Young RR opener Yashasvi Jaiswal had a dream season with the franchise in the 16th edition. Though his team didn't qualify for the playoffs, he was the standout player who was at his absolute best and also smashed the fastest IPL fifty off 13 balls. Jaiswal can be an ideal option for a backup opener, and with five matches to play, he can also get a chance to make his debut. The left-hander scored 625 runs in 14 innings at an average and strike rate of 48.07 and 163.61, with one century and five half-centuries.

3. Jitesh Sharma

With Rishabh Pant out of the picture and KL Rahul also injured, India are looking for a wicket-keeper batter who can smack the bowlers around. Though India have the option of Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan, both of these are top-order batters. Thus, Jitesh Sharma is an ideal option if India need a finisher who can also keep wickets. The 28-year-old had a brilliant season for the Punjab Kings, where he scored 309 runs in 14 innings at an average of 23.76 and an impressive strike rate of 156.06.

4. Akash Madhwal

Since Jasprit Bumrah got injured, India have been in search of a reliable death-over bowler who can come into play and restrict the batters from scoring runs in the final overs. However, Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj have made some great improvements, but India need another young bowler who can be used as a backup. Akash Madhwal comes to mind as a player with these abilities who did well with the Mumbai Indians. His 5/5 against the Lucknow Super Giants helped MI qualify for Qualifier 2. He played 8 games and took 14 wickets at a strike rate of 10.92. India can try him as they are searching for a good death bowler.

5. Tilak Varma

There is another player who has done well in the last two seasons for the Mumbai Indians. He is none other than Tilak Varma. The 20-year-old left-hander impressed everyone in his debut season in 2022. Then he carried his form into the 16th edition as well and became a vital cog for MI in the tournament. He scored 343 runs in 11 innings at an average of 42.87 and a strike rate of 164.11, scoring runs in tough situations. Tilak is a great option for the middle order and can be a good finisher if groomed.
