Adam Zampa will miss the first T20I against India due to personal reasons.

The Australian Cricket Team have suffered a massive blow ahead of the T20I series against the Indian Cricket Team as leg-spinner Adam Zampa will be missing the first part of the series due to personal reasons and will play a part later in the series.

Adam Zampa will be missing the series as he and his wife Harriet are expecting their second child. The leg-spinner also missed the first ODI against India in Perth due to travel distances. He then returned for the second match in Adelaide, where he was adjudged Player of the Match, and also featured in the Sydney ODI.

Zampa troubled Indian batters in the ODI series and his absence in the T20I series acts as big blow as he is the leading wicket-taker in men’s T20Is for Australia. It remains to be seen when he will rejoin the team.

With Adam Zampa missing the first few games of the T20I series, Cricket Australia has added young leg-spinner Taveer Sangha to the squad. He hasn’t featured in the XI since 2023, but his record in the Big Bash League (BBL) is decent for Sydney Thunder.

Tanveer Sangha, who took 4/31 on his debut against South Africa, has played seven T20Is and also shone with the ball in the unofficial ODI series between India A and Australia A, where he took seven wickets. He is also the leading wicket-taker in the One-Day Cup with 10 wickets in four matches for New South Wales.

There are chances that he might form a spin attack with Matt Kuhnemann. Having won the ODI series against India by a margin of 2-1, Australia would be keen to carry on the same form with the bat and ball in the T20I series, beginning October 29.

Australia have made a host of changes to their squad for the series against India. Josh Hazlewood will leave the team after the first two matches in Canberra and Sydney, while Sean Abbott will leave after the third match in Hobart.
