Harmanpreet Kaur and Alyssa Healy had an intense battle against each other in the one-off test.

Indian women’s team scripted history after defeating Australian women side by 8 wickets margin in the only test match they played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. India won their first-ever test against Australian women’s side in the red-ball format. In the action, both captains also had an intense battle against each other at Wankhede stadium and shared a few passionate moments in the game.

Harmanpreet Kaur and Alyssa Healy had a bit of a personal ego battle in the second innings when Harmanpreet threw the ball directly towards the batter but Healy deflected it off her bat and the ball went for four. India appealed for ‘obstruction’ but the umpire ruled in favour of the batter and awarded Healy a boundary. Right in the next ball, Harman got Healy out and she gave Australian skipper a send-off.

Alyssa Healy on incident

Australian Women’s team skipper Alyssa Healy has now responded positively about the on-field spat against Harmanpreet Kaur in the test match. Alyssa Healy said that she does not think it as personal rivalry and added, “I don’t necessarily think there is a rivalry. I think that we’re just two cricketers going at it. That’s basically the way that I’d sum it up.”

“She’s obviously a passionate cricketer, so am I. That’s what happens when Australia plays India. It’s a good, hard contest. Yesterday was just probably an example of that” Alyssa Healy responded to a question about the incident. Alyssa Healy scored 70 runs in the test and she was taking her side to a comfortable position in the second innings with 32 runs knock.

India’s win against Australia started a debate around raising the number of test matches for women’s cricket. Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur asked for opportunities in the red-ball format and said, “When everything works together, you get positive results. Hopefully, we’ll get many more Test games in upcoming years.
