BBL 2023-24: Points Table, most runs, most wickets, after Match 17th, HUR vs STA

Melbourne Stars defeated Hobart Hurricanes in 17th match of the BBL 2023-24.
Melbourne Stars registered their consecutive win in the Big Bash League 2023-24 after defeating Hobart Hurricanes at Blundstone Arena in Hobart. Stars defeated Hobart in a rain-curtailed run-chase by 7 wickets. Stars were given a revised target of 67 runs in 7 overs (DLS method). Hobart had a terrific start by picking up 3 early wickets, they got rid of Sam Harper (0), Marcus Stoinis (0), and Hilton Cartwright (2) early in just two overs but Glenn Maxwell once again proved a match-winner for the Stars.
Melbourne Stars were 6 for 3 in 1.4 overs and they needed 61 more to win and jump up in the points table. Glenn Maxwell (35) and Thomas Rogers (21) added an unbeaten 61 runs for the 4th wicket to win the game. Glenn Maxwell also shined with the ball and he took 3 wickets along with Haris Rauf, who also picked 3 wickets in the game. Batting first, Hobart Hurricanes put up 155 runs on the board earlier in the innings.

Melbourne Stars made a big jump in the points table after winning a rain-curtailed game against Hobart Hurricanes. Stars, after winning their second game of the season, have move up to 4th place from a distant 7th before the game. Melbourne Stars now have 4 points in 5 games with 2 wins. Hobart Hurricanes have now slipped down to 7th place as they have only 2 points and one win in 4 league games. Brisbane Heat remain as the table-toppers with 9 points in 5 games.

The list of highest run-scorers in the BBL 2023-24 has remained unchanged after the end of the 17th league game. Perth Scorchers’ Aaron Hardie is leading the chart with 182 runs in 4 innings. Sydney Thunder’s Cameron Bancroft is second with 175 runs in 4 innings. Brisbane Heat skipper Colin Munro is 3rd with 157 runs, Munro failed to add any run in his tally on Wednesday. Mathew Short is 4th in the table with 137 runs. Melbourne Stars’ Hilton Cartwright managed to add just two runs against the Hurricanes and remains 5th with 128 runs.
