Fans demand justice for Sanju Samson as he doesn't get picked in India playing XI for first ODI vs WI

Sanju Samson has played 11 ODIs and 17 T20Is for the Indian Cricket Team since his debut in 2015.

India have begun their preparation for the upcoming Cricket World Cup with the three-match ODI series against West Indies. Kensington Oval in Barbados is hosting the first ODI of the series between the two teams. Sanju Samson started trending as soon as Indian captain Rohit Sharma announced the team for the first game.

Indian team management preferred to go with Ishan Kishan over Sanju Samson as the wicket-keeper option. Sanju Samson has been a curious figure in Indian cricket. His journey in international cricket goes like a case study. Sanju has failed to get consistent opportunities in the Indian batting order irrespective of the format he has been selected for.

As soon as Rohit Sharma announced the team and fans saw no Sanju Samson in the playing XI for the first ODI, Sanju started trending on Twitter. Several fans restarted their favourite campaign #tag Justice for Sanju Samson. Fans started questioning captain Rohit Sharma’s statement earlier when he became the captain where he said that he will be backing up his players no matter what.

For many this decision came as a surprise. The captain expressed that Sanju Samson is looked at as a prominent member of the Indian team for the upcoming World Cup, despite that his non-selection raises questions over team India’s strategy in the batting order.

Here's how fans reacted to Sanju Samson not being picked in India XI:

Team India handed Mukesh Kumar his ODI cap after a great outing in the second test at the Queens Park Oval. Mukesh Kumar made his test debut in the recently concluded Test series against West Indies. Mukesh got the opportunity to replace Mohammed Siraj in the bowling line-up. Siraj had flown back to India due to a side strain injury he is carrying after the second test. Siraj’s injury news came just a few hours before the first ODI in Barbados. India won the toss and elected to bowl first against West Indies in the first ODI game.
