The Indian cricket team will begin their 2024-25 home season with a two-match test series against Bangladesh. It will be India’s first test series at home since their victory over England earlier this year. Bangladesh are coming to India with a 2-0 test series victory against Pakistan in Rawalpindi.
In the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) cycle 2023-25, India are at the top of the standings with six wins in nine games. Bangladesh are placed fourth with three victories in six matches. Both teams will look to clinch the upcoming two-match test series in order to strengthen their positions in the WTC standings.
The opening fixture will start on September 19 in Chennai and Kanpur will host the second test match from September 27.
The Indian squad saw the return of Rishabh Pant to the test side following his car accident in December 2022. Virat Kohli, who missed the England test series earlier this year due to personal reasons also returned to the squad.
Left-arm seamer Yash Dayal earned maiden call-up to the Indian test side. Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the side. Meanwhile, the visitors will be led by Najmul Hossain Shanto.
