IPL 2023 Updated points table, Orange cap & Purple cap after Match 19 between KKR & SRH
Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 23 runs in the 19th match of IPL 2023 despite best efforts of Nitish Rana.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) secured their second win of the IPL 2023 as they defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their own den in Eden Gardens Kolkata on April 14, 2023.
Nitish Rana, the captain of KKR, won the toss and decided to bowl first while fielding an unchanged lineup. In contrast, SRH substituted Abhishek Sharma for Washington Sundar.
With the wickets of Mayank Agarwal for 9 runs and the dangerous Rahul Tripathi for 9 runs as well, who hit two boundaries in his first over alone, Andre Russell gave KKR the perfect start in the meantime. However, SRH skipper Aiden Markram joined Harry Brook in his confident scoring streak.
Abhishek Sharma, who was batting out of position, followed Markram, who made 50 in 26 balls before succumbing to Varun Chakravarthy. Sharma scored 32 in 17 balls with three fours and two sixes.
Harry Brook, however, continued to batter the KKR bowlers all over Eden Gardens, hitting 12 fours and three sixes during his innings. Despite being extremely exhausted from the intense heat in Kolkata, Brook eventually surpassed the 100-run milestone in 55 balls, which is the first century in IPL 2023.
As SRH reached 228/4 in 20 overs, Heinrich Klaasen scored 16 runs in 6 balls. Andre Russell was the best bowler for KKR, finishing with 3/22, however, he had to leave the pitch after only 2.1 overs.
In reply, Bhuvneshwar Kumar got rid of Rahmanullah Gurbaz for a duck in the first over. And while N Jagadeesan hit 36 in 21 balls, Marco Jansen hurt KKR big with the wickets of Venkatesh Iyer for 10 and Sunil Narine for a duck.
Mayank Markande then got the wicket of Jagadeesan to put KKR back in the chase and then also accounted for the dangerous Andre Russell for 3 runs.
Nitish Rana played an excellent hand of 75 in 41 balls with 6 sixes and 5 fours to his name, before getting out to Natarajan. This left Rinku Singh once again to try and do the unthinkable. He finished with a valiant 58* in 31 balls with 4 sixes and 4 fours, but KKR could only make 205/7 and lost the match by 23 runs.

Chennai’s Ruturaj Gaikwad is at fourth place with 197 runs.
IPL 2023 Updated Purple cap holder:
