Umran Malik castled Devdutt Padikkal's stumps to get his first wicket of the IPL 2023

The Indian Premier League is back in its home and away format. Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium is hosting an IPL game after 4 years. Sunrisers Hyderabad in their opening encounter are hosting previous season's finalists Rajasthan Royals. Rajasthan Royals got off to a flying start in Hyderabad. SRH bowlers did not look too convincing in their opening game. Apart from T Natarajan no other pacer bowled under 10 runs per over. Yet Umran Malik with his brute pace kept terrorising a few Royals batters. Malik with his 149.2 KPH delivery ripped off Devdutt Padikkal’s stump.

Umran Malik's best sight as a Pace bowler

Batting first Rajasthan Royals Top 3 had a flying start, scoring almost 12 runs per over. Devdutt in number 4 could not do much. In the first bowl of 15th over, Umran Malik with pace ratted Devdutt Padikkal’s off stump. Padikkal could not even move an inch and had got no answers to what Umran Malik had thrown at him at almost 150 KPH. This is one sight every pace bowler craves for. They love to watch stumps go cart wheeling and Malik did the same against Padikkal. Devdutt scored only 2 runs in 5 balls.

Express pace bowler Umran malik bowled 3 overs and gave 32 runs at an almost 11 runs per over. The Rajasthan Royals opener had a wonderful start against Hyderabad. Buttler and Jaiswal both added 85 runs in the first power play. Buttler got out on 54, he smashed 7 fours and 3 sixes in his 22 ball inning. Jaiswal accompanied him well and ended up scoring 54 runs in 37 balls. For Royals Buttler, Sanju Samson and Yashaswi Jaiswal had scored half–centuries.

In IPL 2023 Rajasthan Royals became the first team to score 200+ score. Using wicket to their advantage and vulnerability of Hyderabad pace bowlers Royals ended up scoring 203 runs in their quota of 20 overs. Hyderabad got off to a shaky start chasing 204.
