Punjab Kings finished 8th in IPL 2023

The Punjab Kings had a challenging run in the IPL 2023 season, playing 14 league games and securing victories in 6 of them. Unfortunately, they faced defeats in 8 games, concluding the season in the 8th position on the table with a total of 12 points. The team’s inconsistent performance reflected in their negative Net Run Rate (NRR), which stood at -0.388. Despite starting on a positive note with two consecutive wins, they struggled to maintain momentum throughout the season.

Shikhar Dhawan, the captain, emerged as the leading run-scorer for the Punjab Kings in IPL 2023. Displaying brilliant batting skills, Dhawan held the Orange Cap for the first three innings until an injury altered the course for both him and the team. In 11 games, Dhawan scored 373 runs at an impressive average of 41.44 and a decent strike rate of 142.91. He also recorded three fifties during the season.

On the bowling front, Arshdeep Singh had a successful season in terms of taking wickets. However, he struggled to contain opposition batters in IPL 2023. Arshdeep Singh picked up 17 wickets in 14 games but had an economy rate of 9.69, highlighting the team’s challenge in finding an impact pace bowler to create more pressure on the opposition.
