Suryakumar Yadav is MI’s leading run-scorer in IPL 2025.

Mumbai Indians (MI) will clash with Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Qualifier 2 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The encounter will take place on Sunday, June 1, at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Ahead of the crucial clash, MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene has provided an update on Suryakumar Yadav’s fitness. Notably, Yadav has been a crucial batter for MI in IPL 2025. He is the leading run-scorer for the side and has helped the side win many games with his consistent batting show in the ongoing season.

He also scored a quick-fire 33 off 20 balls in Eliminator clash against Gujarat Titans (GT). Notably, he was seen struggling on the field during and after the match. He also had a chat with the team physios on the field during the encounter.

During the post-match press conference of the Eliminator clash, MI head coach Jayawardene said that there are no injury concerns with Yadav. He also added that everyone is fit in the squad.

“I think these are a few old souls that we get a bit of bandaging, a bit of time. And I saw boys getting it done, a few others as well. We know it’s a tough schedule for us, but I think everyone’s healthy, everyone’s fit,” Jayawardene said.

“And don’t worry about those little tightnesses. I haven’t heard anything from the physios. I’m pretty sure that even with one leg, these boys will be playing for us. Don’t worry,” he added.

Notably, ace pacer Deepak Chahar was rested for the Eliminator clash against GT. He faced a hamstring issue in MI’s last league match against PBKS. Richard Gleeson was inducted into the playing XI as his replacement.

Meanwhile, Yadav has slammed 673 runs in 15 games in IPL 2025. He has an amazing batting average of 67.30 and a strike rate of 167.83. The right-handed batsman has also smacked five half-centuries in the league, including a top knock of an unbeaten 73 runs.
