Rishabh Pant has managed to score 110 runs in 10 matches this season.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper Rishabh Pant has finally broke his silence over series of poor batting performances in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The LSG skipper faced backlash on social media after his team’s another defeat and his another poor outing with the bat. The Super Giants lost to Mumbai Indians (MI) in match No. 46 of IPL 2025 on Sunday, April 27.

The visitors LSG leaked 215/7 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai after opting to bowl first. Later, they completely failed during the chase and were bowled out for just 161 runs on the board. Pant could only score four runs off two balls in the match. MI spinner Karn Sharma dismissed him at a crucial moment just after the powerplay overs. LSG eventually lost by a huge margin of 54 runs.

I don’t want to start questioning myself: Rishabh Pant

Speaking after the defeat against MI, Pant said he doesn’t want to start questioning himself over his form as it won’t help him. He added that one should not question a particular player when the team is not performing up to the mark.

“See (I am) keeping it very simple. Not thinking about that too much because in a season like this, where things are not going your way, you’re going to start questioning yourself as a player and that is something you don’t want to do,” Pant said.

“When the team isn’t doing well, you’ve got to think about that because eventually it’s a team game. Yes, one player definitely makes a difference, but every time if you take out the individual, it’s not the right thing to do, I guess,” he further added.

Interestingly, Pant has batted at several positions for LSG in IPL 2025 so far. However, he has still struggled with his form and a deliver consistent show. Pant has mustered just 110 runs across nine innings at a poor batting average of 12.22.

He has also struggled with his strike rate, which is less than hundred. He has scored one half-century in the league. He slammed 63 runs in an earlier clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The LSG captain has registered scores of 0, 15, 2, 2, 21, 63, 3, 0 and 4 with the bat across nine innings.

Additionally, Pant has also struggled with his captaincy as LSG have failed to capture consistent victories. They have witnessed a roller-coaster ride in IPL 2025. Out of 10 games, they have won five matches and lost five encounters. They have 10 points and take the fifth spot in the points table.

Notably, Pant was named as skipper of the side ahead of this season. LSG bought him for INR 27 crores during IPL 2025 mega auction. He became the costliest ever player in the IPL auction history.
