Kuldeep Yadav picked up a 5-wicket haul against South Africa at Wanderers in the 3rd T20I.

Spinners have helped India equal the three-match T20I series against South Africa. With help of a magnificent 5-wicket spell from Kuldeep Yadav, India defeated the Proteas by 106 runs at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. South Africa defeated India by 5 wickets in the second T20I game to take a 1-0 lead and now with a heavy margin victory in Johannesburg, India have avoided an embarrassing 2-0 loss against the Proteas.

Birthday boy Kuldeep Yadav became a star for India in the game as he took no time in finishing the African tail. South Africa struggled massively chasing 202 and they were restricted for 95 runs under lights. The pitch was offering a lot of assistance to the spinners and Indian spinners gripped the game in the middle overs. Kuldeep Yadav has also achieved a unique record in T20Is and became the first bowler to take 5 wickets on birthday.

Kuldeep’s magnificent spell

Kuldeep Yadav also registered the best bowling figures by a bowler on his birthday in T20I cricket as he went past Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga who picked up a 4-wicket haul against India on 29th July, 2021. Kuldeep started his spell by dismissing Donovan Ferreira (12) who was looking to go big against left-arm chinaman. Kuldeep got his castle in the final ball of his first over and then later on, he dismissed Keshav Maharaj.

David Miller (35) also became Kuldeep Yadav’s victim and he was the final wicket to fall in the game. Miller looked comfortable throughout his stay but his innings was toothless because wickets fell at the other end in regular intervals. Ravindra Jadeja also chipped in with 2 wickets in 3 overs. Jadeja conceded 25 runs while Kuleep ended with figures of 5/17 in 2.5 overs. Kuldeep dismissed Nandre Burger, Lizaad Williams, and David Miller in his third over.

Team India posted 201 runs on the board. Captain Suryakumar Yadav scored a magnificent century and equaled the world record for scoring most T20I centuries. Rohit Sharma, Glenn Maxwell, and Suryakumar Yadav share the joint number of 4 T20I centuries. Suryakumar Yadav couldn’t field for long in the second innings due to an injury and Ravindra Jadeja took charge as skipper during South Africa’s chase at Wanderers.
