MS Dhoni didn't complain about knee till the IPL 2023 final to anyone: CSK CEO K Viswanathan

CSK captain MS Dhoni announced in the IPL 2023 Final that he will play next IPL season.
Chennai Super Kings won their 5th IPL title in the 2023 season and equaled Mumbai Indians record of winning the Indian Premier League title most number of times. Their all title wins have come under MS Dhoni’s leadership. Dhoni made IPL 2023 special for himself along with a little struggle he had with his knee. He played with a heavily strapped left knee.
The CSK skipper, MS Dhoni played the entire season with a knee injury and often he was seen limping during or after the game. He also cut down on the running between the wicket when he came in to bat at number 8 in many games this season. Now, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has revealed that Dhoni didn’t complain even once about the injury he was carrying.
'Dhoni didn't complain about injury'
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan told ESPN Cricinfo said, “We never asked him things like do you want to play or do you want to sit out. If he can’t, he would have told us straight away. We knew it was a struggle for him to play, but his commitment to the team, his leadership, and how the team benefits everyone knows. From that perspective, you have to appreciate him”. Talking about Dhoni’s injury, CSK CEO further added, “Till the final, he never complained about his knee to everybody. Though everyone knew, and you would have seen him struggling while running, he never complained even once. It was after the final he said ‘Ok I will have surgery'. He’s finished his surgery and he’s quite happy and recovering”.
MS Dhoni went through surgery on his left knee at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai earlier this month. Dhoni will be making his comeback in the Indian Premier League next season as well. In the final, he announced that just for the fans and support he got he wants to continue for one more season in the IPL 2024 before hanging up his boots as a player. Dhoni got a huge reception from the crowd wherever CSK played their game in the IPL 2023.
