MS Dhoni was amazing behind the stumps with one catch, one stumping, and one run out against SRH.

MS Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain, was in prime form with the keeping gloves in his team’s IPL 2023 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday, April 21 which was played at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai.

The 41-year-old CSK captain, who is participating in the competition despite having a knee niggle, has not let the issue alter how he plays. He won the toss and decided to bowl first against SRH, using his CSK bowlers effectively to keep the opposition to 134/7 runs.

MS Dhoni assisted Ravindra Jadeja in his 3/22 performance in his four overs by stumping Mayank Agarwal. The seasoned custodian also made a deft grab of Aiden Markram off Maheesh Theekshana, for which he grumbled that he ought to have won the best catch prize.

The evidence of how agile and attentive MS Dhoni is still at this age, came on the last ball of the SRH innings, when he pre-empted that the SRH batters Marco Jansen and Washington Sundar will go for a run no matter what.

So he took off his right glove and practiced throwing the ball. When Marco Jansen couldn’t connect to a Matheesha Pathirana yorker, he ran blindly for a bye and Dhoni then gathered the ball calmly and scored a direct hit to dismiss Washington Sundar with a runout.
