Pakistan suffered a group-stage exit at the T20 World Cup 2024 following losses to the USA and India.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam and his team members could see a decrement in salary in their annual contracts following their group stage exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

In the tournament being co-hosted by the USA and West Indies, the Men In Green lost to the USA and India which paved the path of their early exit, failing to reach the Super 8 round. They were the favorites along with India in Group A to advance to the next round, but their loss against the USA cost them a place in the Super 8.

This has led to a huge backlash among the fans. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to make big calls in the cricket team and in the PCB.

The PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has reportedly been advised to reassess the central contracts of the players handed to them by his predecessor, Zaka Ashraf, last year. If Naqvi does go through with this, there is a healthy chance that the salaries of the centrally contract Pakistan players will reduce.

“There could be a reassessment of the central contracts and the players could find their salaries and fees being cut if the Chairman decides to react strongly to the team’s recent woeful performances,” a PCB source told PTI. “Nothing is final as yet but yes, this strong measure has been discussed within the board with the Chairman.”

Pakistan Cricket Board to enforce two NOCs policy for T20 leagues

Further, to have their players participate more in domestic cricket, the board is set to enforce a policy of only two NOCs where the centrally and domestic contracted cricketers will be allowed to play in only two overseas T20 leagues.

“The other players have also been given a clear message that the two NOC rules apply to both centrally and domestic contracted players and the board also reserves the right to turn down any NOC request from any player,” an official added.
