3 players who can replace Hardik Pandya as Gujarat Titans' captain

Hardik Pandya led Gujrat Titans to their maiden IPL title.

In a big shocking move, Hardik Pandya may leave Gujarat Titans for the upcoming IPL 2024 season and join his old team, Mumbai Indians. According to a few reports, Hardik Pandya can also be appointed as Mumbai Indians skipper as the franchise is looking for a replacement for Rohit Sharma who is 36 years old now. Reports stated that Mumbai Indians might pay 15 crore rupees to Hardik Pandya and brand endorsements to make the move happen. 

Final deadline for submitting the retention list is 26th November before the mini-auction in Dubai on December 19th. This one move can put Gujarat Titans in a vulnerable position as they will be missing out on their skipper before the season begins. But there are a few great names that can come forward to lead Gujarat Titans squad for the upcoming season in IPL 2024. 

1 . Rashid Khan :

Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan is the front-runner to lead Gujarat Titans captain if Hardik Pandya leaves them to join Mumbai Indians. Rashid Khan has also had experience of leading Titans squad in Hardik Pandya’s absence. He has led Gujarat Titans twice in his career out of 33 matches they have played in the league so far. Rashid Khan also has experience of leading his national side Afghanistan in the T20I format. 

2. Shubman Gill :

Shubman Gill can be another option Gujarat Titans can try as their captain. Shubman Gill is yet to lead a side in any format or any tournament and he might also be preferred to provide him a platform for the future ahead. Shubman Gill can offer Gujarat Titans a long run in their IPL campaigns and this one decision can also build an option for team India in the upcoming years. Shubman Gill is Gujarat Titans’ leading run-scorer in the league. 

3. Kane Williamson :

Apart from Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill, Gujarat Titans also have Kane Williamson in their camp. Williamson missed the entire IPL 2023 due to an injury he sustained against Chennai Super Kings. Having a great successful experience of leading New Zealand at the international level, Titans might also prefer Kane Williamson to lead the side. Williamson also has experience leading Sunrisers Hyderabad in Indian Premier League.
