Punjab Kings full squad after IPL 2025 mega auction

Punjab Kings finished ninth in the IPL 2024.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) will be looking to change their fortunes with a new look squad for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. After a disappointing run in IPL 2024, where they finished eighth in the league, PBKS entered the mega auction with the biggest purse of INR 110.5 crores.

As expected, PBKS had two busy days on the auction table making quite a few eye-catching purchases. The franchise made a record-breaking bid for Indian middle order batter Shreyas Iyer to acquire him at INR 26.75 crores. Punjab also secured the very first player to be auctioned in the two-day event – Arshdeep Singh for INR 18 crores through the RTM card.

Other big acquisitions for PBKS include leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and Australian all-rounders Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell. Chahal will strengthen the franchise’s spin bowling department, which has been a major weakness for PBKS.

Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell will add depth to Punjab’s middle order along with local boy Neha Wadhera.

Players retained by PBKS before IPL 2025 mega auction:

Coming into the auction PBKS had made only two retentions in Prabhsimran Singh (4 crores) and Shashank Singh (5.5 crores) (both uncapped). The franchise came with the aim of rebuilding the whole squad before next season.
