Sanju Samson was dismissed for a three-ball duck in the second T20I against South Africa.

The Man of the Match of the first T20I against South Africa, Sanju Samson, who had hit a blistering century in Durban a couple of nights ago, was castled for a three-ball duck in the 2nd T20I of the series in Gqeberha on Sunday.

Samson, who was coming off back-to-back T20I centuries, having become the first Indian to do so, had a forgettable outing at St George’s Park as left-arm pacer Marco Jansen knocked over his leg-stump.

Perhaps Samson got too carried away with his form. Showing intent early on against a swinging ball in the first over the match by making room against Jansen, the pacer who is a deadly weapon in these conditions – that is with the rain around – was always going to be a risk for any opener.

Jansen, whose home ground in SA20 is in Gqeberha, didn’t waver his line and length. He sent down a length delivery on the leg stump as Samson moved on the leg side. Samson tried to hit down the ground but missed the ball completely. But the ball didn’t miss the stump and hit the top of the leg stump.

The centurion in Durban walked back without a run to his name in Gqeberha.
