Shreyas Iyer got injured during the third IND vs AUS ODI in Sydney.
Indian Cricket Team batter Shreyas Iyer faced a scary injury in last match of the three-match series against the Australian Cricket Team. The dead rubber ODI between the two teams took place at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney on Saturday, October 25.
Shreyas Iyer gave his all for the team in the field as he put in a magical dive to take the catch of Alex Carey off Harshit Rana’s bowling. He ran backwards to catch the ball, but fell awkwardly and ended up getting injured before being taken off the field by the physio.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) then released an official statement, saying that the batter faced a rib cage injury.
“Shreyas Iyer sustained an injury to his left rib cage while fielding. He has been taken to the hospital for further evaluation and assessment of his injury.”

The exact date for his return to India is yet to be known but it is expected that he will be back in a few days and will head straight to the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. With India’s next ODI series, starting from November 30, the reports claimed that he might get fit by the time the series starts.

But the reports claimed that the injury is not serious enough and he will be fit for the T20I series, which will begin on October 29. There is a slight chance that he might miss this opening game but he is expected to play the majority of the series.
