"Feel sad for Rinku" Twitter reacts as India leave Rinku Singh from 15-man squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024

Rinku Singh was a big name missing out on the main 15-member India squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
On April 30, 2024, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed India’s 15-member squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The USA and the West Indies will co-host the tournament from June 1 to June 29.
India have been drawn in Group A, alongside Ireland, Pakistan, the United States, and Canada. India’s tournament will begin on June 5 against Ireland, with the main encounter against Pakistan scheduled for June 9. India will then face the United States and Canada on June 12 and 15, respectively, with all matches taking place in the United States.
The squad was announced following a meeting in Ahmedabad between BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and the selection panel, led by Ajit Agarkar.
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Rishabh Pant, Shivam Dube, and Hardik Pandya formed the crux of the Indian batting unit. This marked Rishabh Pant’s return to the Indian team as he last played for India in December 2022.
Meanwhile, both Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja found space in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup, while Kuldeep Yadav was also named in the spin department. Yuzvendra Chahal, who had missed the last two T20 World Cups and the ODI World Cup, has been named in the 15-member squad.
The fast-bowling contingent is pretty thin with Jasprit Bumrah leading the pack. The other two pacers are Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj.
Rinku Singh fails to make the cut in India’s main T20 World Cup 2024 squad, Twitter rages
Apart from the 15 main members, BCCI also named four reserves for the T20 World Cup as well. These reserves were Shubman Gill, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan, and Rinku Singh.
Rinku Singh’s failure to make it into the main Indian squad was a huge surprise. He has been in dashing form for the KKR in the past two IPL seasons. Rinku has 112 runs in eight games for the two-time champions Kolkata this IPL 2024 season. Rinku had a strike rate of 157.74 during the first eight games of the IPL 2024.
Since making his debut for India in T20Is, Rinku has played 15 T20Is and scored 356 runs at an average of 89 and outstanding strike rate of 176.23.
Despite such performances, Rinku Singh couldn’t make it into the final 15 with Shivam Dube and Axar Patel preferred over him.
Rinku’s exclusion was not handled well by Indian cricket fans on Twitter and they raged on the social media platform.
Here’s how cricketing fraternity reacted to it:
