Travis Head currently leads the run-scorer list in the BGT 2024-25.
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 heads to Melbourne perfectly poised at 1-1 following a rain-affected draw in Brisbane. After a disappointing performance in Perth, the Australian team has responded with back-to-back dominant displays in Adelaide and Brisbane.
For the Indian team, while their bowling has been excellent throughout the series, they have found it challenging to counter Travis Head. Continuing his excellent batting form across formats, Head leads the run-scoring chart after the third test with 409 runs in five innings.
The southpaw has been the only Australian batter who has looked comfortable against the relentless Indian bowling attack. Head dominated the visitors in Brisbane, playing a 152-run knock which included 18 boundaries.
While batting in the second innings, Head was seen limping while running and did not field during India’s second innings. His absence from the field has sparked speculation about groin injury his participation in the fourth test.
Travis Head provides update on his fitness
Reacting to the injury scare during the Gabba test, Head acknowledged feeling sore but remained optimistic about his chances for the Boxing Day test.
Head said, “Just a little sore but I should be fine (before the next game)“
Pat Cummins has his say on Travis Head’s injury
Australian captain Pat Cummins also shared an update on Travis Head’s injury scare. The Australian captain emphasized that Head has a tight quad but he will be fine for the fourth test of the series in Melbourne.
Cummins said, “Trav (Travis Head), he’ll be fine. It’s a bit of a tight quad, he’ll be fine for Melbourne.“
Australia, already weakened by Josh Hazlewood’s injury, will closely monitor Head’s fitness leading up to Melbourne. In the case of his absence, Beau Webster or Sam Konstas could be called up to the squad.
