Where was Vaibhav Suryavanshi born? All you need to know

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is the youngest player to score a century in the IPL.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi made headlines during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction held in November 2024. At just 13 years old, he became the youngest player ever to be signed in IPL history. Rajasthan Royals secured his services for ₹1.1 crore, surpassing his base price of ₹30 lakh. The bidding saw competition from Delhi Capitals before the Royals clinched the deal.
Everyone was waiting for Suryavanshi’s debut, and he did not disappoint anyone by hitting a huge six on his very first ball in the IPL. He did have a lull in the second match, but Suryavanshi roared back. On April 28, 2025, RR faced Gujarat Titans (GT) in Jaipur. After winning the toss, the Rajasthan captain, Riyan Parag, invited Gujarat to bat first.
Thanks to 84 by captain Shubman Gill, 39 by Sai Sudharsan, and 50* by Jos Buttler, Gujarat Titans posted 209/4 in 20 overs. It was a huge score and RR needed to achieve it, as they had failed to chase the target successfully in the last three matches.
However, what followed was a catastrophe as Vaibhav Suryavanshi first scored a half-century in 17 balls and then converted it into a century in 35 balls, his first century in the IPL. The 14-year-old became the youngest to score a century in IPL history and men’s T20 cricket. This century was also the second fastest behind Chris Gayle’s 30-ball effort; however, this was the fastest century by an Indian player in the IPL.
Where was Vaibhav Suryavanshi born? All you need to know about his childhood
Vaibhav, born on March 27, 2011, embarked on his cricketing odyssey at just four years old, training on a rudimentary pitch in his backyard, lovingly constructed by his father, Sanjiv. A farmer by profession, Sanjiv made the extraordinary sacrifice of selling his land to fuel his son’s dream.
Vaibhav’s mother also became a pillar of support for him, waking at 4 am each morning to prepare his meals and ensure he was nourished for the long days ahead.
At nine, Vaibhav took a significant step forward by joining a cricket academy in Samastipur. There, his raw potential began to shine through. Under the expert mentorship of former Ranji Trophy cricketer Manish Ojha, he refined his game and swiftly advanced through Bihar’s competitive cricketing structure.
In a historic moment in January 2024, Vaibhav made his first-class debut for Bihar at the astonishing age of 12 years and 284 days, placing him among the youngest players in Indian cricket’s storied history. Apart from this, he also became the youngest Indian to debut in List A cricket.
His explosive performances in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy and the Under-19 quadrangular series, highlighted by a rapid 58-ball century against Australia U-19, have firmly established him as one of the most promising young cricketers in the country.
