ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Wasim Jaffer predicts finalists; backs India to win the tournament

The semi-finals round of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will begin on March 4.
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is approaching the end of the group stage. India and New Zealand have secured their semi-final spots from Group A, while South Africa, Australia, and Afghanistan remain in contention from Group B.
The Indian team has shown remarkable consistency in the tournament, defeating both Bangladesh and Pakistan by six wickets. New Zealand, on the other hand, would be pleased with Tom Latham’s return to form.
In Group B, South Africa registered a 107-run victory against Afghanistan, while Australia made history by chasing 352 runs against England in Lahore. The South Africa – Australia clash in Rawalpindi and the Afghanistan – Australia clash were washed out due to rain.
Amidst all this, former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer has backed India to win the tournament.

When asked about India’s recent form, Jaffer emphasized that he expects the team to cross the final hurdle.
Jaffer said, “The way the Indian team is playing, I have my expectations and best wishes for them. With everyone performing well, I expect them to cross the final hurdle and lift the trophy.“
He added, “I expect either New Zealand or South Africa to join India in the final. They are playing exceptional cricket and are in great form.“
The semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 are scheduled to be played in Dubai and Lahore. The final will be held on March 9 in Lahore or Dubai (if India qualify).
