WPL 2024 auction: Full list of players bought by Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals bought three players in the WPL 2024 auction.

Delhi Capitals (DC) missed out on the inaugural WPL title by a narrow margin as they suffered a 7-wicket defeat against Mumbai Indians in the final. Despite having a stellar run in the league stage, DC failed to replicate a similar performance in the final against defending champions Mumbai Indians. Impressed with their current setup, Delhi Capitals didn’t make many changes in their squad and they had just three slots left. 

Delhi Capitals needed just three players to complete their squad as they had most of their bases covered. DC retained almost their entire squad ahead of the WPL auction 2024 in Mumbai. Meg Lanning-led the side beautifully and she is likely to be retained as skipper of the DC for the upcoming season as well. DC bought Annabel Sutherland and two uncapped Indian players Aparna Mondal and Ashwini Kumari in the WPL auction 2024 

Delhi had 2.25 crore rupees in their purse

Delhi Capitals retained 15 of their players from the previous season and they had a decent amount remaining in their purse. Delhi Capitals had 2.25 crore rupees in their purse ahead of the auction and they used this amount wisely on the limited resources they required for the upcoming season. Delhi needed a decent middle-order batter and they fulfilled their need with this amount. 

Skipper Meg Lanning was the leading run-scorer for the franchise in the inaugural season of the WPL. Lanning also ended up as top scorer of the tournament with 345 runs in 9 innings with 2 fifty-plus knocks. Shikha Pandey was the leading wicket-taker for Delhi Capitals in WPL 2023 as she picked up 10 wickets in 9 games for her team. Delhi will look to complete their unfinished task from the previous season.

All-rounders: Annabel Sutherland (Australia) 2 crore rupees and Ashwani Kumari (India) 10 Lakh rupees

Wicket-keepers: Aparna Mondal (India) 10 Lakh rupees
