Yash Dayal's mother was desolate, stopped eating after son got thrashed by Rinku Singh for 5 sixes - Reports
Rinku Singh hit Yash Dayal for five sixes in an over to help KKR beat GT in Ahmedabad
Gujarat Titans (GT) bowlers Yash Dayal had a poor outing against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the recent IPL 2023 match at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad as he conceded 31 runs in the last over when KKR needed 29 runs to win.
A big reason for that was KKR batter Rinku Singh, who had previously hit a six and a four off Josh Little in the 19th over to bring the equation down to 29 runs in the last 6 balls. After getting the strike on the second ball of the final over bowled by Yash Dayal, Rinku unleashed terror on the left-arm pacer.
He then hit him for five sixes in five consecutive balls with the first three maximums coming off full tosses as Dayal missed the yorker deliveries, then in an attempt to correct his ways, he overcompensated and bowled short deliveries, which Rinku deposited for straight sixes, as KKR won the match by 3 wickets and Singh remained unbeaten on 48 runs.
Yash Dayal’s mother cried her heart out after Rinku Singh hammered him for five consecutive sixes
It was not Yash alone, his family too were in a state of shock. Yash's mother, Radha Dayal, was reportedly inconsolable and stopped eating. This was said by Yash’s father Chandrapal while talking to PTI.
"These Are The Moments Sport Is Made Up Of. Even In Life You Come Across Failures, It's Important To Stand Up Stronger. They (GT) Made Him Sit In The Centre And Consoled Him. Later, There Was Naach-Gaana (Dance, Music) They Spent Some Light Moments With Him,” Chandrapal told PTI.
Late in the night, Dayal senior called up his son and had a chat with him.
"He Told Me That Somehow The Ball Was Slipping Out And He Was Not Having A Proper Grip On The Night As He Missed His Yorkers. Even He Tried A Slower One From The Back Of His Hand That Too Was Smashed. He (Rinku) Just Had To Smash Every Ball And They Know Each Other Well. It May Have Come Handy For Rinku And It Was Simply Not His Day. Many Great Cricketers (Chetan Sharma) Have Gone Through This," he added.
GT will next face Punjab Kings in Mohali on April 13.
