Liverpool set to make bid for former Manchester City midfielder Romeo Lavia
The 19-year-old has represented Belgium at the senior level
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are vying with other Premier League teams to recruit Southampton's Romeo Lavia and have inquired about specifics on a prospective deal.
The 19-year-old has experienced a stratospheric rise in the last few months after transferring from Manchester City to the Saints in order to play regularly.
Romeo Lavia was undoubtedly their prominent player, frequently drawing attention with his performances in the centre of the park, even though the south coast side ultimately finished last in the standings and was demoted from the Championship.
The Belgian, who makes £25,000 a week, first caught everyone's attention when he scored a spectacular long-range goal against Chelsea at home early in the campaign. He eventually started 26 league games.
Lavia's quality is demonstrated by the extent of interest in his signing, and he will undoubtedly advance this summer rather than remain in the second tier.
He has been linked to the Reds on multiple occasions, and a recent development indicates that they are still highly interested in signing him as new sporting director Jorg Schmadtke tries to make an impression during his first summer at Anfield.
Given the departures of players like James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Liverpool must significantly reinforce its midfield this summer. Since Brighton's Alexis Mac Allister arrived recently, the 19-year-old midfielder might be an intriguing addition.
The Belgian international has a tonne of potential and has already established himself as a key member of a Premier League squad in his early teens, making him a likely long-term replacement for Fabinho at Anfield if he excels in the No. 6 position in front of the defenders.
