Liverpool predicted lineup for 2023-24 season
The Reds will hope to have a better campaign after a disappointing 2022-23 season
The Reds finished fifth in the Premier League last season, 22 points behind champions Manchester City. Liverpool missed a chance to play in Champions League this coming season, they missed by 4 points behind fourth place Newcastle United.
Liverpool have already signed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig this window to strengthen their midfield and the squad. They are still trying to bring in new faces before the transfer window ends.
Based on the players they signed, this is how Liverpool could lineup this season:
Goalkeeper- Alisson Becker
Alisson Becker is currently among the most talented goalkeepers in the world, the Brazil international was one of the best players for Liverpool last season. He kept 14 clean sheets in 37 games that he played for the club. He is expected to be Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper in the 2023-24 season. As he is about to begin is his sixth year as a Liverpool player, he will be quiet inspired and motivated.
Left-back- Andy Robertson
Robertson is expected to keep his place in the Liverpool starting XI as he continues to show why he is the number one choice left-back for Jurgen Klopp. He had a decent season last year as he provided eight assists in the 34 matches that he played. Robertson is considered as one of the best full-backs in the world. Robertson has helped the Scotland side to be at the top of the Group A in UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying.
Centre-back- Virgil van Dijk
The Netherlands international will have a responsibility of marshalling the Reds defense this coming season as he has been given the captain band after Henderson decided to move to Saudi Arabia. He has been rock solid since he was signed from Southampton, helping them win the Premier League and Champions League. Van Dijk has a point to prove this season, last season he scored three goals and one assist.
Centre-back- Ibrahima Konate
The Frenchman is expected to partner Virgil van Dijk during the upcoming season, they pair kept 7 clean sheets last season. One of the modern centre-backs in the world, Konate knows how to pass the ball and break between defenses whenever he has the opportunity. He has improved Jurgen Klopp’s defensive ranks since he has arrived from RB Leipzig.
Right-back- Trent Alexander Arnold
Alexander Arnold will look to have a redemption season after he was criticized by pundits due to his defensive errors and bad positioning. But, he has been named as the club’s Vice-captain for the 2023-24 season which shows that Liverpool still trust their main man. He has had quite some journey till now with Reds and will look to make an impact and showcase his talent that everybody is used to watching.

Centre-midfielder- Thiago Alcantara
Thiago Alcantara is out of contract next summer and, as things stand, he is unlikely to be offered an extension which means this will somehow be his last season at Liverpool. Liverpool try to use wherever they can if he tries to be fit, his injury concerns have led Liverpool to go after Romeo Lavia this window. That is something we’ll see in a couple of days but Thiago’s presence is undeniable in the middle of the park, there’s a flare with how he approaches the game of the football.
Centre-attacking midfielder- Alexis Mac Allister
Alexis Mac Allister is one of the most talented midfielders in the league and will play a key role for the Reds next season. The World Cup winner was signed this summer transfer window and it looks like Klopp is already fond of him after few videos were posted on social media. He was a key player in Brighton’s squad, he scored 10 goals and provided 2 assists in the Premier League and helped Brighton qualify for European football for the first time in club’s history.
Centre-attacking midfielder- Dominik Szoboszlai
The Hungarian captain enjoyed an excellent season with RB Leipzig last term, scoring six goals and assisting eight in 31 Bundesliga appearances. He is another player signed by Liverpool this season, the 22-year-old has so much to learn from one of the best managers in the world right now Jurgen Klopp. After having success in the Bundesliga, he will look to replicate that success with the Reds.
Left wing- Luis Diaz
The Colombian international has occupied that position after Sadio Mane left, Diaz only played 17 games last season and missed some part of the season due to injuries. In the games that he played last season he looked sharp, Jurgen Klopp mentioned that Diaz is in a great form after being happy from what he has seen from him during the pre-season.
Flase 9- Cody Gakpo
The Netherlands international will compete with Darwin Nunez for the Centre-forward position next season but due to his abilities he has made it to this lineup. He was impressive last season as he registered seven goals and the highlight of his season came against Manchester United when he scored 2 goals against them in a match which was dominated by Liverpool. The Reds ended up winning the match 7-0.
Right-wing- Mohammed Salah
Salah was the first one to show disappointment after Liverpool failed to qualify for the Champions League in a social media post. It was clear that he was unhappy with the season Liverpool had and particularly him. This coming season he will look to add more quality and produce more goals as Liverpool will look to fight for Champions League qualification as well as trying to win the UEFA Europa League. In achieving this goal, Salah has a major role to play.
