Erik ten Hag has a rebuilding process going on at the Theatre of Dreams

Manchester United’s opening fixture is on August 14 at Old Trafford against Wolves. This leaves a few weeks for Erik ten Hag to add new signings and build his squad, with newly agreed and sign deals of Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund.

The number 9 problem has been solved heading into the new season, United have been making moves in the summer transfer window, they are likely to improve the squad and bring the glory days back to Old Trafford.

Here is the Manchester United predicted lineup for the upcoming 2023-24 season:

Goalkeeper- Andre Onana

Andre Onana has joined Manchester United on a contract running until June 2028, with the option of a further year. The Cameroonian goalkeeper has kept 104 clean sheets in 255 club appearances. He won three league titles and two KNVB Cups with Ajax before joining Inter in 2022. Last season, he won the Coppa Italia and recorded the most clean sheets in the Champions League.

Ten Hag and Onana were very confident about this move with both of them reuniting after their Ajax days. Onana has received criticism already from United legend Andy Cole after his performance in the pre-season. It is too early to criticize the goalkeeper as he is one of the best modern day goalkeepers.

Left-back- Luke Shaw

Speaking to MUTV ahead of the upcoming season, Shaw revealed that the additions to the squad this summer have led to optimism about winning more trophies. The England left-back has made his way into the Playing XI under Erik Ten Hag. He will look to continue his form the upcoming season and produce his best this coming season.

Centre-back- Raphael Varane

Raphael Varane is one of the world’s best defenders over the last decade, he has settled in so well in the United squad, all the experience of playing in Champions League, World Cup and winning them is something that was missing in the United squad-a leader with a lot of character. After securing Champions League football for the upcoming season, we can expect him to show the world why he is four time Champions League winner.

Centre-back- Lisandro Martinez

The World cup winner and commonly known as “Licha” among fans and players is one player that resembles Nemanja Vidic, the never die attitude is what separates him from Harry Maguire and Lindelof. The exact reason why he was brought in my ETH from Ajax to provide the stability in the back line. Licha missed last couple of games of the previous season due to injury but he is back in shape and ready to go play again in the Premier League.

Right-back- Diogo Dalot

The full-back has been turning heads with his footballing ability, since the age of six, when he joined Fintas Academy in his hometown of Braga and remains a promising talent and has already achieved so much in his fledgling career. Last season he saw his place slip away with Wan Bissaka taking over the right-back posiiton but soon Dalot showed ETH what he is all about regaining his right-back place.

Defensive midfielder- Casemiro

Casemiro was one of the signings from last season that impressed so much, he is known for his defensive abilities, ball-winning skills, and tackling. His presence on the field is more than enough to boost the morale of his teammates, Casemiro will look to add on to the Hall of Fame career by winning some trophies this season including the Premier League and Champions League.

Centre midfielder- Mason Mount

The England midfielder was acquired from Chelsea this summer transfer window and has been impressive in the ongoing pre-season matches. Mount’s arrival will certainly address the issue of quality and depth in United’s midfield. His work rate in and out of possession makes him the type of player that managers can rely on. “Mason brings a certain attitude and an aura and a mentality on the field,” former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel said in 2021.

Left-wing- Marcus Rashford

In a recent interview, Rashford was asked about his plans of leaving Manchester United and he clearly expressed “if it was not the way Ten Hag has transformed him and the side he would’ve left the club.” He has extended his stay at the club until 2028 hoping to win more trophies in the coming season and the seasons to come. The 25-year-old England international will look to continue from where he left last season.

Centre-attacking midfielder- Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes has scored 64 goals and contributed 54 assists in 185 games for the club since joining in 2020. Due to his on field leadership and qualities the captaincy band has been taken away from Harry Maguire and given to the Portuguese maestro. There will be a lot of responsibility on Bruno’s shoulders this coming season and with his persona it is clear that he will become one of the best captains in the history of the club.

Right-wing- Antony

A product of the Sao Paulo youth system, Antony has been honing his skills since he joined them in 2010. He won two successive Eredivisie titles, as well as the KNVB Cup in 2021 to complete the domestic double. Antony concluded his time in the Dutch capital with 24 goals and 22 assists in 82 appearances and was destined to join Ten Hag on his next venture at Manchester United. He has scored 7 goals for the club the past season and will look to improve his game this season.

Striker- Rasmus Hojlund

Manchester United have finally signed a new striker for the upcoming season, Hojlund is somebody who has impressed Ten Hag so much that the Dutch manager was adamant in signing him from Atlanta. With athleticism, ability to strike the ball and technical quality, Rasmus Hojlund can become the perfect No 9 for Manchester United.

The youngster turned 20 this year and is the youngest foreign player to have scored at least three away goals in the Italian league last season. Within the five major European leagues, only Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala was ahead with a higher tally of away goals (4) than Hojlund.
