Naorem Mahesh Singh signs long-term extension at East Bengal
Naorem Mahesh Singh sparked brilliance along with Cleiton Silva last season at East Bengal.
Emami East Bengal FC is delighted to announce that Naorem Mahesh Singh has signed a three- year contract extension that will keep him with the club till the end of the 2026-27 season.
Commenting on the development, Mr Sandeep Agrawal of Emami Group said, “Mahesh has been a match-winner ever since he joined the Red & Gold brigade. He’s not only improving with each passing day, but also serves as an inspiration to the youngsters in the team who aspire to reach the next level. We are very proud of what he has achieved, both with the club and the national team. The fans love him and we are extremely happy to retain our boy.”
Emami East Bengal FC Head Coach Carles Cuadrat said, “Mahesh’s extension is fantastic news for Emami East Bengal. He exemplifies the mentality that our new project aims to instill in the club and its players. It indeed is an honour for us to see this young attacker perform so well for the Indian national team. He’s definitely an important player for the future of Indian football and is someone who genuinely relates to the East Bengal values.”
Mahesh, who has registered 8 goals and 7 assists in 48 appearances for the club so far, felt emotional after signing his contract extension. The 24-year-old said, “For me East Bengal is not just a club; it’s my family. I began my ISL career with this great club and I am excited to continue my journey here. I am thankful to the Emami East Bengal management and Coach Cuadrat for initiating this new project and considering me an important part of it. I would also like to thank all my teammates and the support staff for helping me become a better player.”
Hailing from Manipur, Mahesh was the club’s leading assist provider (7 assists) in the previous ISL season and the club’s top scorer in this year’s Super Cup (3 goals).
He also became the first Indian to register a hat-trick of assists in ISL history during the Red & Golds’ away fixture against Jamshedpur FC last season.
Mahesh made his international debut against Myanmar in March this year and has so far won three titles with the national team.
Having featured in 13 international matches since making his India debut, the young attacker also scored two international goals against Nepal and Iraq.
