Netherlands announce provisional squad for November international break
Netherlands will face Ireland and Gibraltar in Euro qualifiers
For the November international break, Denzel Dumfries and Stefan de Vrij were named to the preliminary roster by Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman.
The Oranje will play their first home game against France on October 13 before travelling to Greece on October 16 in what might be a pivotal match in the Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.
With Les Bleus in second place in Group B, the Dutch are currently level on points with the Greek. The top two finishing teams will automatically advance to the tournament championship game.
Koeman's tentative squad was announced by the Netherlands on their official Twitter account. Denzel Dumfries and Stefan de Vrij, two mainstays of the Nerazzurri, are in the team.
The previous season, Simone Inzaghi's regular centre-back position was lost. But since the beginning of the season, he has been playing more frequently, in part because of Francesco Acerbi's injury during the preseason. After losing out in 2018, it has shown to be a solid comeback for the country, and they are expected to have another prosperous competition, like they did in 2010 and 2014.
This well-balanced team, led by an exceptional coach who has untied a notoriously difficult dressing room, has a great blend of intriguing talent and experience.
There are challenging periods in between generations. For example, the Netherlands took a while to recover from the retirements of Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder, and Van Persie in 2014. Although there may not be as much star power as there once was, the team definitely has depth.
