Top three Arsenal managers with most wins in first 200 games in charge
Mikel Arteta is breaking records at Arsenal
The Premier League is known to be competitive for a lot of reasons. It is not just the players that make it challenging but also the amazing managers who have done wonders in England. Be it as a player, staff, manager or even a spectator. And out of these, probably the most pressuring spot is to be a manager in the English top-tier league. Finding success in the Premier League is not everyone’s cup of tea. Even the best managers have failed to make a mark given the league’s competitive nature.
At the same time, some world-class managers have been brutally effective in the league. They have been able to secure wins on a consistent basis and help their respective clubs.
On that note, we take a look at the managers with the most wins in their first 200 games in charge for Arsenal:
George Graham – 106
After an interview with Peter Hill-Wood, David Dein and Ken Friar the Arsenal directors appointed Graham as their new manager on 14 May 1986. Graham quickly discarded some players and replaced them with new signings and youth team products. At the end of Graham’s third season, the club won their first League title since 1971. Graham’s Arsenal became cup specialists, and in 1992–93 they became the first side to win the FA Cup and League Cup double.
The 1994 Cup Winners’ Cup proved to be Graham’s last trophy at the club. It was on 21 February 1995 that Graham, who had led the North London club to six trophies in eight seasons, lost his job after some controversy.

Arsene Wenger – 111
From his playing days in French football as a centre-back, Arsene Wenger transitioned to a managerial career with spells at AS Nancy and AS Monaco. His analytical approach and emphasis on fitness and nutrition soon earned him a sceptical move to Arsenal. Not everyone was convinced about a Frenchman who was managing a side in Japan before them. But with time and years passed, we have seen how Wenger totally transformed the club. From playing in Highbury to the modern Emirates Stadium, people have realised what a gift he was for the club.
In his stunning spell with the Gunners, Wenger won the Premier League three times. This included the 2003-04 season where the club went undefeated through the entire campaign. He holds the record for managing the highest number of league matches in the history of the competition.
Mikel Arteta – 116
On 20 December 2019, Arteta was appointed head coach at Arsenal, A protege of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City is as good a credential as any, but it is easy to forget Arsenal’s transformation into potential title candidates was far from immediate. Across his first 200 games, Arteta has claimed 116 victories, drawn 34 and lost 50, putting him just ahead of the club’s most successful manager, Arsene Wenger, at the same stage of his career. His 200th appearance as a manager was against Brentford in which the Gunners came out as the winner as they defeated the Bees by 1-0.
